I don't think they will gas him.
The problem is that the current set-up doesn't work.
- Transfer committee doesn't work as someone always ends up compromising.
- Buying youth for re-sale value later on works if you get it right (which they seldom have) and even when it does work, you then have heaps of cash and youth players again as the names you have developed move on.
The chicken needs to come before the egg for Liverpool. Invest in tried and true top level performers, get a deep CL run & regular qualification, Premiership win and silverware back in the cupboard and then it becomes easier to attract top talent and retain the good youth players...but despite moaning about money bags Chelski and Citeh, we really need to BUY at least CL qualification if not the title and then go from there.
A problem is that in some cases we did spend some proper cash recently on players who have shown a bit of promise at best.
Lallana, Sakho, Lovren, Markovic and Balotelli all fall into that category.
