I read about that bosman thing somewhere, I think you could be right ajc. Guessing that the UK would alter their law to allow for something like that now - but who knows? The old people voted this in, maybe things will be done old ways.
I also thought the same as you about residency, but I did read a list somewhere on twitter of players who apparently wouldn't have qualified for work permits last season under non-EU law, and Sagna and Clichy were both on it, which made me double take. No idea how reputable the author was though.
Edit: Did just see this quote from FA Chairman Greg Dyke; “Should the UK remain a part of the EEA, like Norway, then it will have to continue to accept the freedom of movement principle and little will change for English football.”

yeh that's the 'laugh'. If they want to get free trade access, they have to accept freedom of movement of labour too. So all that immigration control thing could be bs.
I want to put you all straight and let you know where things really lie with this stuff.
