I thought Carroll was a decent gamble. Everyone mocked Liverpool over the price but in reality it was a simple swap to me: Torres out, Suarez and Carroll in.
As it turns out Liverpool got 3 fantastic seasons out of Suarez before selling him for more than the total spent on Carroll and Suarez.
Carroll was a flop, but an affordable one, thanks to Suarez' quality, and the excellent fees on the Torres and Suarez sales.
Yea it's easy to look back in hindsight. I thought Carroll was an ok gamble.
