Tevez out for two weeks with hamstring, so both teams will be without their top strikers.

it's official, chelsea just aren't that good, and manU can always do the business, even when you think their squad is no good...

fergie's a genius there's no doubt about it, how you can give someone like darron gibson a decent amount of games and still have a good look at a treble is beyond me

ronaldos come and go but fergie's always there, and deserves all the credit that comes his way

even though i hate him

that was for you michael

Glad you guys won tonight, hopefully the extra couple of games don't drain your squad too much and Ferdinand's injury isn't a serious one.

We will see.

Ferdinand has a couple of panit tin lids holding his legs together. This summer Fergie will find a replacement. Spurs were looking at buying him to keep Ledley and Woodgate company in the physio room. (im not joking- redknapp said he was thinking of putting an offer in for him)

To me Smalling looks a great ferdinand replacement, a real talent. Now just gotta find someone better than Jonny Evans/Wes Brown to back them up?

Well Rio is a fantastic player and played brilliantly again today. Last week he was even better. I can only hope he can continue to play enough games to contribute enough to the team, because he and Vidic continue to show just how good a combination they are.

Smalling is quality and will get better. I think Evans will stick round as 4th choice, he's gone a bit backwards recently but he can still be useful enough. No room for Brown for me personally, though SAF might keep him round.

The Porto (I think) defender Rolando has been linked, as well as Jack Rodwell. Rodwell could fill two gaps as he is currently a midfielder but is reportedly a real option in a back four, or at least could become one in the future.
Was reading something like this on ESPN recently, must say, if Brown is happy to train every week and not actually have any game time than he's not a bad reserve.

Yeah it's all very well to say 'Oh he'll fit in nicely at United etc.', but Everton do need to agree to sell him, and a fair fee worked out.

Somewhere I was reading the other day was saying if he is your most valuable asset, along with the fact that maybe he doesn't make your top XI if everyone is fit, maybe you could sell for a decent fee and then bring in a few quality players to bolster the squad.

As an aside, I do think Ashley Young will end up at United next season though. His contract only has a year to go, he wants to win things and is becoming an England regular. Sounds like an ideal Ferguson signing.

When was the last time United lost a domestic cup semi final??  You guys just don't lose these. I was very surprised to hear the result this morning. How did Berbatov miss that chance??

We lost the semis in 2009,1970, 1966,1965, 1964, 1962.
Can't remember before that as I was too young.

City deserved to win cause they turned up in the first 60 min.If Utd have played with the same passion in the first half as they did in the last 20m, they would have bolted in. It was no surprise that Carrick was the one to give the ball away as I have always said that he is not good enough. Scholes should not have started as him and Carrick are not mobile enough and as usual PC behaved like a thug and let his team down.(again)
In saying that Utd played far better when he was off.

Meh, the last 20 wasn't anything special - not deserving of a come back anyway.

Scholes and Carrick completely destroyed but you get it wrong sometimes. Surprised one of them wasn't changed earlier. God knows why Hernandez couldn't just start.

don't think balotelli trolled ferdinand, more like balotelli is just a little f**king prat who played like mud for the whole game. toure and silva were the only decent city players

According to Rio's twitter - he went over to the United fans to have a go.

Hmmm.

Well I'm loving the bottling coming from the Emirates personally. Number 19 is getting closer.

As for the FA Cup game, I thought when Berba missed those two chances maybe it wasn't going to be our day. Things like that and Nani's freekick going from Hart onto the crossbar and out just showed that maybe things weren't going to fall for us.

I thought Toure was excellent for them - Carrick you have played extremely well recently but that was rather rubbish.

Certainly be egging on Stoke in the final!
Apologetic Rio Ferdinand claims Mario Balotelli taunted United fans

Rio Ferdinand has criticised Mario Balotelli for taunting Manchester United fans after Manchester City's FA Cup semi-final win at Wembley but apologised for his spat with the Italian striker.

The Italian incensed Ferdinand after the final whistle on Saturday by reportedly thrusting the badge on his shirt in the direction of opposition supporters.

Ferdinand, writing on Twitter , said: "If you score a goal and give a bit to opposing fans I kind of accept that but at the final whistle [you should] go to your own fans and enjoy it, not opposing fans."

Balotelli also winked at Ferdinand as the players left the field and the pair had to be separated by their team-mates. Ferdinand added: "If I offended anyone, I apologise, emotions obviously running high."

Yesterday's defeat ended United's bid for the treble and Ferdinand urged his team-mates to bounce back by winning the Premier League and Champions League. "Disappointed we didn't get the win we were looking for," he said. "Now let's go and win some silverware.

Well I'm going to view that as a point gained until fulltime tomorrow morning at White Hart Lane.

Just missed a little bit in terms of a cutting edge. I expect a home game this weekend will be just the tonic to find that again.

Cheers, mate.  Your lads played well considering their massive schedule - looked a bit tired at the start but put in a great effort in the second half.

I'll meet you half-way.  A draw was a fair result (it's hard to be composed at SJP), but I'm happy to have Fergie look after that trophy until we're ready to claim it!

Funny how the Arse supporters have all of a sudden gone quiet. Perhaps it is to do with the 'bust up' of Fabregas and Wenger regarding the comments made in a Spanish newspaper or maybe the fact that Chelsea are now a major threat to them as well.
Perhaps the next two games will tell the story.

Lets hope it does not come to that.
I would hate to win or lose on goal difference.
