Definitely think Fletcher will offer something different when he's back fighting fit. Is he playing for Scotland this weekend?
Yes I believe he has been picked for Scotland and has played a couple of reserve games for United in the last couple of weeks, so fingers crossed he is pretty much back to full fitness. His leadership cannot be underestimated.
One of the good things is that we did not have to sign 10 new players like some other teams.
Yep - it's still a team sport. I still back United to beat City and expect City to implode before the end of the season.

City have a couple of disruptive players which could cause them a few problems. However, they have so many top players I reckon they will be the team to beat.

Come on you Reds!

The MUFC NZ Supporters Club now owns 3 season tickets. $30 a season gives you access to these tickets, a monthly newsletter, monthly get-togethers in Auckland, a free pin badge on joining, regular DVD's sent out to your address throughout the season of stuff from MUTV and Sky Sports UK, and the chance to play for the MUFC NZ football team.
Do you have many member's from outside of Auckland?

Of course, I'd say about 30-40% are outside of Auckland. I know from experience there are a heck of a lot of Reds in Wellington and Christchurch. It would be great if there was a regular place to watch United games in Wellington, for example. Hamilton and Whangarei are other hotbeds for United fans I have noticed.
Bit confused to see Evans starting over Smalling - I think Evans is the worst player in our squad at the moment. Good to see de Gea get a clean sheet as well.
And ALSO... Ferguson saying midweek that POGBA will be involved in the Cup against Leeds.
Good to see heaps of discussion following another resounding win this morning! God its good to watch at the moment, who needs Sneijder when we have Anderson playing the way he is. I said before the season started that Rooney would have his best year and early indications are that that will be the case. Phil Jones is also something to behold. Really exciting.
Unlike other some other team supporters, Utd fans on this forum are not into commenting 10 times a day/picking the team and predicting stupid scores and the scorers.
Was away for the week-end so have not seen the game. Will see the replay during the week.Could not believe the score. Downside is Cleaverly has a suspected broken foot. Hope he is OK as he is a class player.

I think being compared to Pele or Maradona would be higher tbh.
Wenger is currently managing as well as Maradona ever did.

Pele and Duncan were the same age but if you ask anyone of repute from that era, they will tell you Duncan was better than Pele and played every position on the park. He didn't get the opportunity to be the best in the world but he could have been.

Messi is better than both in my opinion.
when he wins a World Cup single-handedly, then you can talk. maradona is the best.

Giggs, even if he only plays 60 minutes.
Bit disappointed we didn't sign Sneijder even though we all knew it wasn't going to happen. Yes Cleverley and Anderson are playing well, but can't see us winning the Champions League with what we've got. We are only one or two injuries in that position from being right up sh*t creek without a paddle. Carrick and Fletcher playing together would give us next to no creative influence in the middle of the park, aside from Rooney.
I was thinking the other night and I'm actually not convinced we will sign a big name midfielder (thinking of Nasri, Modric, Sneijder etc.).
Who needs Wesley, we've got Cleverley!

Overall I'd give us an 8 out of 10 for the transfer window.
Positives:
-Signed the best young defender in the country, and he's probably now one of the best defenders of any age in the country.
-Ashley Young (speaks for itself)
-David de Gea will prove to be a class signing. Still only 20.
-Brown and O'Shea out. Sad day for the club but their time was up.
-Got rid of Obertan and partially got rid of Bebe.
Negatives:
-Still think we could have done with another midfielder, even if it wasn't Sneijder. I'd love to see us get Goetze next summer.
-Couldn't get rid of Kuszczak, Gibson and Diouf and will now probably have to loan them.

Sorry
Both Bobby Charlton and Paddy Crerand have mentioned Phil Jones reminds them of Duncan Edwards. No higher compliment in world football than that.
I think being compared to Pele or Maradona would be higher tbh.
Wenger is currently managing as well as Maradona ever did.
I'm sure both of those lads would've had a go at centre half, and right back, but I think big Duncan would've been at least their equal...

'Arf!
thank you, thank you, I'm here all week
Reasonable point this morning in Portugal, rested a lot of players and played like we did last year with Giggs and Carrick in the middle (along with Fletcher - great to see him back) and Rooney up front on his own; Park and Valencia running up and down the flanks. Evans won't be too proud about the Benfica goal, though Cardozo did brilliantly to finish. Lovely goal from Ryan to equalize.
That's the toughest European tie we'll play for the rest of 2011, so good to get it done early. Look forward to the three home games and the trips to Switzerland and Romania (Basel won 2-1 this morning, gives them a good start in the group)
Sounds like de Gea could be out on his ass.
Nope.
[QUOTE=Sir Alex Ferguson]
David De Gea will play on Sunday. That was the understanding we had before the game, and it doesn't change.
Lindegaard impressive though. Knew he was talented when I saw him in America.
Both goals were stunning. Unlike Carrick.
With all that possession Utd should have done a lot better. Not that they were poor, but not enough shots on goal, although they should have scored more.
Benfica could aslo have scored a couple more if it were not for Lindegaard. At this stage of the season he looks better than De Gea. Evans and Carrick are not good enough to be in the Utd squad. Against better sides they will get exposed.I'm betting that only 3 of the players that started today will play on Sunday.
Happy with a point.

Yeah I think only Rooney, Smalling, Evra and maybe Fletcher will start against Chelsea. With Cleverley out we need another central midfielder, not sure who that might be.
Giggs, even if he only plays 60 minutes.

I would agree that Giggs probably should be the second central midfielder, but I'm not sure after playing him for 90 minutes in the heat of Portugal, that Ferguson will make the old bugger back up again. I may be wrong though.
I think he may go with Carrick, and I know a few people would be about that call.
So my pick for the team for Chelsea: De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Anderson, Nani, Young, Rooney, Hernandez.
Not who I'd select if I was manager, but who I think Ferguson will name. Evans is in as I haven't heard how Rio is shaping up, and Carrick ahead of Giggs on the basis Giggs is an old fart. Fletcher not at 100% yet.
