What I don't get about Rooney's fan is people swear constantly.
They swear at refs, they swear at each other. When you see someone miss, the camera will often catch them yelling "f**k!" or whatever. If the TV company were allowed to place mics above the pitch, they would and we'd all hear that.
Ultimately its the broadcasters fault the words were ever aired.
A two match ban is way over the top, and since Rooney apologised straight away, any other player who does the same and does not show such regret should expect an even worse punishment - though somehow I doubt this will happen.
It also sets a precedent that any player negatively affecting the premier league should be punished.

I remember when Javier got sent off at OT and I was absolutely disgusted. Couldn't believe (well, I could, it was at OT) the ridiculous over-reaction, the fact it was even a red, and that he got a 3 game ban or whatever it was. mind you, i guess he was a 'dirty Argentine'. Absolutely appalling. in regards to the point in bold, I was saying the exact same thing after Masch's sending off, and seeing as what Rooney, Rio and co (yes, Stevie G and Torres as well 
) get away with week in week out, it was ridiculous that you make a scape goat of one player and then do fk all in every incident after.

Doing it directly to the camera is different to doing it in the game though. Kinda like Paul Henry's comments- people say that sh*t all the time, but you cannot say stuff like that on national television and expect to get away with it.
