Interesting article with David Gill quoted as saying we have a goalkeeper lined up and that some of the wider squad players may be on the way out. Again Ashley Young linked, don't know about you Paulinho but I would be disappointed if we signed him, we have Nani, Valencia (best wide man in the league) and Park who are more than handy in this position. i think the money would be better spent elsewhere. A striker, A central midfielder and a GK. lets hope we aren't waiting for the whole off season for new signings. Thoughts?

Ashley Young would be a decent signing I think. It only takes on injury to Nani or Valencia and suddenly we are looking short in the wide areas. Obviously we have Park but SAF likes to save him for the European and Cup matches (and big league matches). With Giggs getting another year on him, he will stick almost solely to central midfield next year. So another wide option would be good - remember this is a squad that has to play 50 or 60 matches a year.

We definitely need something in the middle of the park - especially if Scholes does retire. Carrick has been good recently, we have Fletcher, Giggs and Anderson (plus possibly Pogba coming through), but I do think a defensive midfielder is probably required (Rodwell?), and possbiy an attacking option. Rooney has been doing a lot of dropping off in recent games with Hernandez ahead of him and playing in the advanced playmaker role, and has been effective.

The other thing is Tom Cleverley will be back next year, so expect him to play games as an attacking midfielder.

As for the forwards, I'm not convinced we need a top line striker to come in. Rooney and Hernandez are the top dogs at the moment, plus we have Berbatov of course. Welbeck has been quality this year for Sunderland so I would like him to play matches, unless he goes back there as part of the deal to bring Henderson to United (another possible midfield option). As for Diouf and Macheda, well I'm not sure about either of them.

The goalkeeper is an interesting one - it really could be any of a number of options (it won't be Neuer). The two favourites are Steklenberg and De Gea - comments out of De Gea suggest he hasn't decided what he is doing next year. I really have no idea at this stage as to who it might be.

Hargreaves, Brown, and Owen all likely to leave I would think.
