I refuse to be consumed in negativity against the players - sure we started off slow and conceding was terrible but we lost because of the referee. What a disgrace.

The only thing I will say about the players is that Lingard cannot continue to start. He might be energetic and up for the high press and chasing down everything he can, but he offered next to nothing going forward, turning the ball over too much in the process. Go back to Pereira (I seriously don't know why he hasn't started since opening day v Chelsea) starting in that advanced play-maker type role sitting in behind Martial, with Rashford and James either side of him.

I get that the referee and some decisions looked at through VAR were perplexing, which will surely be up for review at some point this week. The one decision that really pissed me off though was James being booked for a dive in that second half when it was clear he got kicked in the knee...

In saying that we were profligate in front of goal. Considering the amount of possession we had, it felt, and looked like we ran out of ideas going forward a lot of the time. We knew what Crystal Palace were going to do, they were always going to sit deep and keep it tight and hit us on the counter and they executed that pretty much to perfection.

It's disappointing either way it get's cut up, but we need to dust ourselves off and move on to Southampton down on the South Coast next week, get back on track and look to pick up the 3 points before the International break.
