In the past, teams have been able to do "low-block" because our midfield never offered any danger from outside the box. Chuck in Bruno and Pogba who, if you don't pressure them, are going to either make something or score. This opens up space for everyone else and boom, suddenly we're winning games.
Ole deserves massive credit. His signings have all been perfect, not only their football capabilities but their attitude as well. I love it.
Still too soon to know if Ole is actually good enough. He does have players that are good enough for the starting X1 but he obviously could not see that against Norwich as the starting team he picked was crap. Time will tell, but he will need 2/3 quality players to even get close next season. The teams we have beaten lately are going to get relegated
When will it have been long enough to know if Ole is good enough?
And I feel like the arguement 6 months ago was that he is able to set the team up well to get more positive results than not against better teams, and struggles against those smaller teams. But now you say that even though we have convincingly beaten lower ranked teams, its not a fair reflection on his ability?
As good as Bruno is, I think that Ole is doing the same thing now, as he was doing before we had Bruno, except there were periods of injuries to Martial, Rashford, Pogba, Matic and even McTominay and he has had more time to get more buy in from the players about what he is trying to do.
He certainly got the defense sorted and now the attack is coming together too. The run of form will end at some point but the direction Ole has got everyone going in is more positive than it has been since SAF left.
We will know when he is good enough when he wins more than he loses. He has only been there a short while and quite frankly has not proved to me that he is a quality manager for Utd. We are playing well and I hope he succeeds as it would be horrendous to have to appoint another manager so soon. There is no room for sentiment in the next few months so I await with bated breath to see which players he is going to get rid of. Mata, Lingard, Pereira, Bailly, Fred would be a good start, and remember we still have Smalling and Sanchez.
