Smalling is hardly world class, but as I mentioned earlier, as individuals they are OK but not as a unit.

Smalling had a fantastic season last season though. Never seen him play any better. Blind is not doing too bad either. 

Both true, but Smalling improved playing alongside Blind.

Perhaps I am too critical of Smalling, although I have to admit that I watch him like a hawk as I have never been a big fan. Lots of people think he is great.
