One thing we need to get sorted is our recruitment. When I look around some of the other top teams and think about some of the gems they've signed or unearthed, I can't understand why we are not finding these players. Players in the mold of Fabinho, Torreira, Sane etc
I think there's a couple of main reasons for this.
The first is that there's a generation of United fans who expect "proven" players. This means we end up with players like Lukaku, who anyone mildly impartial could tell you was just going to be the next one season wonder (Carroll, Benteke, etc etc).
The second and biggest reason is that players like Fabinho, Torreira, and Sane don't want to sit deep and chase after the ball for 90 minutes.
Lastly, Mourinho won't give time to anyone whose name isn't Matic. Fred is the perfect example of what happens if you sign for Manchester United right now. No opportunities until you've completely lost it. I remember opening game where Pogba, Pereira, and Fred started and we actually looked like a good unit. We've seen that since and those Pereira and Fred have both fallen off a cliff.
