Dear oh dear, if he doesn't get involved at training sessions, what on earth does he do then!
Observe them - the same thing Sir Alex used to do.
I'm not here to defend Ole, I think his time is fast approaching, but I think he has been trying to do what SAF used to do. That is take on a higher manager role, which means at things like training simply observing the players, while passing the tactical nuances to Mike Phelan. SAF used to do this with Phelan and René Meulensteen. In his book SAF even credits René with the tactical evolution from 2007 and beyond.
Mind you, Sir Alex used to sack them occasionally.
Regardless of OGS, I'm concerned the only replacement being floated around is Conte. A tactically stubborn manager who will no doubt need two seasons of getting the players he wants and moulding United into whatever he plays.
United needs to find a manager that fits the club. Not the other way around. Otherwise we're going to embark on another LVG/Mourinho era.
As I said previously United would do much better taking a stab on an up and coming manager than getting a big name in simply because "tHeY'rE a PrOvEn wInNeR"
