Any low ego workhorses out there?
I think that was a feature of Sir Alex’s teams too- dogged players such as Fletcher or John O’Shea or even the much more technically gifted and attacking Park Ji Sung. Guys who are incredibly fit and out-performing expectations, but also consistent and reliable.
I feel that United is short a couple of these kinds of players at least. Ole’s success in part was that he was a United guy- and to me that was consistency, mental toughness and application, as much as glitz or whatever. I think we’ve definitely seen some of that from him and his teams, but it is different times and much more challenging ones tbh.

I think, with O'Shea, Fletcher, the Nevilles, Butt, Brown, they were not only your tenacious-for-the-team kind of guys, but they also all came up from the juniors. Does OGS really do that? I haven't seen any evidence of that, aside from Greenwood who was always nailed-on. Even though they might not have the skill, players like Williams, Garner, Galbraith, Laird, Barnard, Mengi etc might have the 'pashun' and drive that we miss. I'd rather Williams than AWB. He might not be the same level of tackling, but you'd know he'd fudge someone up to get the ball.
Mind you, I wouldn't want a team of McTominays......
