The reason it's called the Boundary Bar is because it sits on the old boundary between the historic City of Edinburgh and Town of Leith. It was said that in the old days when there was differing licensing laws between Edinburgh and Leith that you could drink in one end of the bar for the Edinburgh licensing laws then move to the other end of the bar and drink for another hour due to Leith's licensing laws!
SCOTTISH FOOTBALL THREAD
Cheers for that. Interesting. Sounds like a certain pub in Mangere.
Yeah, I think they managed to build the East Stand in about 7 months, steel structure, concrete walls and terracing and nothing else apart from on the concourse food/drink, toilets, bookies and maybe a first aid room. About a simple as a 6k (IIRC) capacity stand gets! But it does the job, as you say it's close to the pitch, bottom row is maybe 3m from the touch line. A steep rake so everyone feels close to the action and enclosed by the roof so there's plenty of noise.
Pubs on almost every corner down Easter Road, not surprised you can't remember!
To be honest I'd take a bare bones stand near the pitch to Westpac stadium any day of the week.

That's right. I used to work at the Calton Studios nightclub. We'd finish up around 4.30am and head to one of the bars on Leith Walk that opened at 5am for a drinking session... Haha!
Glad to hear I wasn't imagining it. Sounds like something from a Peter Greenaway movie now.

"telling it like it is"
Really missing credible competition for Celtic.
Really missing credible competition for Celtic.
Probably true, but the rest of the comp is more competitive than its been for years. The Blue side of the Ugly Sisters aren't being missed at all, and the Armageddon we were all promised would happen when they got what was coming to them hasn't happened.
I was thinking about what professional sports are dominated like Celtic is dominating the SPL this season and the only one I could come up with is Formula 1 with Red Bull over the last couple of years.
Seems like the SPL is just a formality that Celtic has to get through to play in the Champions League. But yes from Aberdeen down to everyone except Hearts its very tight - makes me wonder if the SPL would be better off without Celtic sucking up all the resources.
Celtic adds visibility in that its a team that is known around the world, probably more so than half the Premier League teams, but I wonder if it takes more than it gives.
At least they have assholed the Financial director at Rangers. Jesus how do you create that same mess again.

By doing what they're doing! Forking out millions of pounds at the moment for a team playing in the 1st Division. It's ludicrous.
Aberdeen just beat Celtic 2-1 solidifying their position at 2nd especially as Motherwell also lost. Also stops Celtic going the season unbeaten...
... Sweet.
Hearts are another found guilty of not managing their pennies.
Kilmarnock look like they might stave off the drop. Rumour was Kris Boyd was potentially back off to the UK but I see they are now saying nope. That bottom 4 is really compressed above Hearts.

By letting him take charge of Celtic to balance the books.
The SPL is currently a 1 team League whereas as it used to be a 2 team league which is a joke in itself. I prefered it back in the 70's when there were clubs that actually gave them some competition despite either one always winning the league. Now you have one and it is obvious the other clubs are fairly evenly matched. remove Celtic and it's be quite exciting to watch.
80's most interesting with Aberdeen being one of the dominant teams with Hearts and Dundee Utd also getting a look in.

...because football supporters in every other country on Earth don't swear! Pfft.
Anyone following the Scottish League cup lately? Was very chuffed to see Aberdeen win last weekend (lived there for a couple of years in my twenties), and especially pleased to see Celtic Park packed. Maybe Scottish football is finally picking up, although to be honest it wasn't much of a match, so I probably shouldn't get my hopes up.
Terry Butcher - How does this man still get gigs?
Hibbies going down? No Edinburgh teams in the SPL?

Darkness over Leith.
H*bs, the Mighty Jambos and the ugly Blue NewCo sister in the Scots Championship. Should be some good fighting next season.
Good laugh at the Leef trash having a relegation party at Tynecastle a coupla weeks back - look how the cookie crumbles. Bluddy brilliant!
Scotland. The only country in the world where the second tier has better clubs than the top tier.
Crazy that there are no teams from Edinburgh anymore!
Hearts and Hibbs to win the championship next year? Are there parachute funds in the SPL?

They're waiting to see what the Scottish pound will be worth after the September referendum. Could be the whole country will need a parachute payment.
500K the first season you're down, 250K the second season (if you dont make promotion in your first season)
So, Terry Butcher sacked, after releasing 14 players a fortnight ago. Where to now for Hibs!?! Owen Coyle for manager?
Scotland. The only country in the world where the second tier has better clubs than the top tier.
Yawn.
Rangers - pumped every time they played a team from a higher division this season, and last.
Hibs and Hearts - relegated, meaning they weren't actually good enough (certainly in Hibs' case) to stay in the top tier.
So your troll doesn't really stand up to much scrutiny
Hearts only relegated because of finances though.

Ok bigger clubs then.
Alan Stubbs announced as Hibs new "Head Coach" Alan Stubbs: I’ll lead Hibs back to top flight
So - Head Coach as opposed to Manager, in a new 'continental style to football management at the club' which has yet to be fully disclosed.
LOLTastic - Dundee beat Man City 2-0 at Dens in a pre-season friendly.
Speaking of lols, Celtic turned over 4-1 in their first leg Champions League qualifier against the mighty Legia Warsaw.
Yet another early exit for Scotlands best. They should postpone the 1 team SPL for the season so Rangers can make it a 2 team SPL.
