Ball long gone, kicked at him once, then had a second nibble to rake his achilles as well, deliberate and disgusting.

Reminded me the van nistelrooy one.

You obviously didnt see it.

Ball was running out for a goal kick in the first half. Did see it and didn't find it remotely disgusting. In fact, everyone saw it (there were replays) and no one found it offensive at all, hence why nothing has been made of it. I think you might need to let this one go

eurosport: "vaz te a sly dig at mertesacker's leg, he's lucky that wasn't seen"

7am kickoff: "Vaz Te raked Mertesacker's Achilles"

Times online: "The ball is seen out by Per Mertesacker as Ricardo Vaz Te chases and the West Ham winger has a nasty kick at the defender. Vaz Te can think himself very lucky"

I'm not the only one then.

Are you seriously saying raking someone's achilles is ok? For real?

Or are you saying that didn't happen?

No one seems to have found sagna's collision with potts offensive either, so you'll need to let that go. Boy needs to learn to land on his feet.

The ref saw it and had a word with Vaz Te about it. The fact that he did nothing more about it indicates the severity of it. At worst, it might have been a yellow card - hardly the punishment of a disgusting act.  No one in the world has an issue with this since the game finished except you. Wenger is very well known for complaining about physicality against his team and he has not mentioned it, it has not been reported in any papers and no tin foil hat wearing Arsenal fans (except you) are talking about it. As mentioned earlier, you might need to let this one go

Jesus, I am saying It did happen and it was no big deal. It was a sly little dig that was a little petty but ultimately harmless

No one is blaming Sagna at all, and it has been let go

Andre Marriner's 'word' is hardly evidence based on his performance in that game.

I notice you haven't answered the questions:

Is it ok to rake someone's achilles? Or are you saying that didn't happen? EDIT: now you have, and you've said raking an achilles is fine. Good to know. Remind me never to step on the pitch with you!

I misinterpreted this to mean you thought sagna had clocked him in the air. Now can see you were having a joke.

I understand it wasn't completely clear if I was being serious or joking. I am sure you were not the only one who made that mistake

Thank fudge for that! Tight one at Brighton, looking forward to the draw tomorrow. Luton would do.

We made that hard for ourselves! Giroud was a beast! Surely we've got to be getting rid of Santos soon, he was AWFUL! If a championship side like Brighton can make him look rubbish then he's not up to it at a prem level. Did I hear the commentators right that we shelled out 6.2m for him? What a bloody waste.

Ramsey and Jack together was also a fantastic looking combination, Rambo's stock definitly went up today, the Ox not so much, he needs a few confidence boosting goals.

At home to Blackburn for the 5th round. Surely now we start to take this competition seriously, it'd be such a big boost for the team.

The only other Prem sides left are City, United, Everton, Rovers, Reading, and possibly Chelsea.

Also, what are your gents thoughts of our chances against Bayern? I'm feeling well up for it, this side continues to get written off, but hopefully that pressure gets them up for the big games.

as earlier, far prefer a 1 off tie
no option but to win the 1st leg, they'll be scant offerings in the second.

Blackburn at home is a pretty generous tie, although unfortunately all other serious Premier League sides got pretty easy ties (no such thing as an easy tie etc etc). Great to see sp*rs knocked out as well, of course.

Can't wait for Bayern. I don't think we necessarily need to win at home (although of course it would help). I'm thinking of our famous trip to San Siro a few years back after a 0-0...

Pumped for tomorrow, should be a close encounter but a front three of Poldi, Walcott, and Giroud firing, with Cazorla and Jack back in midfield we should be scoring lots of goals!

Yeah, trying.

Can see a reasonably comfortable home win tomorrow morning. Or maybe we will put up a 'fight' for a 'close' 2-1 defeat like against United and Spurs. But tough to see anything other than an Arsenal win. We've not beaten a side in the top half of the league this year, and you guys destroyed us at Anfield.

Good luck and may the best team win. Hope you all don't enjoy the game too much!

Will have to take the draw after being 2 goals down after 60 minutes but we could have easily won it with the chances we created in the second half. Much better showing. I really hope Gibbs injury isn't too bad because Santos would have to be one of the worst players ever to pull on an Arsenal shirt. He makes Tony Lochhead look good!!!!

Good comeback but arrrrrrrh we should have won....2 points dropped and could have also gained on spurs. WHY do we only start playing once we are behind. FFS i NEVER want to see santos in a arsenal shirt ever again, would rather have tv5 sagna or some youngster there

We would have been better off playing with 10 men. He almost allowed Liverpool to nick it at the end.

Because vermaelen is no LB. Him being there coincided with our worst run of last season. He was also mainly at fault for our first goal today, in my opinion he shouldn't be in our starting eleven let alone out of position as well.

Fullback is such an important position in wenger teams. They play up sooooo high most of the time, they need to be very quick, very skillful, and very fit. Sagna, Jenkinson and Gibbs fit the bill.

We need someone better than santos as LB back-up, especially when gibbs gets injured so often, but it's tricky as Gibbs is so young - anyone we get will not be a future prospect, but cannot expect to start now either.

Santos will be going nowhere. Think he still has 2 years to run on his contract and he's not bothered by the lack of playing time. He's well out of the picture with the Brazilian national side, he's getting a bigger wage than he'll get anywhere else, no reason to leave. His only valuable role in this squad is as a late replacement at left wing when we're leading games which is a bit sad.

Enjoyable game for the most part. A draw probably a fair result. You guys dominated but we had a few chances on the break. Both teams feel like its two points dropped, I think, which shows what a rollercoaster game it was. Spurs and Chelsea dropping points elsewhere is good for you. Luckily for us Swansea and West Brom dropped points this week as well.

I liked the look of that young left back at Southampton. Luke Shaw.

gibbs out for 3 weeks apparently which really means 4-6weeks, pretty big blow that. I have say ramsey has been pretty good in the last few games. Giroud 5 goals in a week is pretty darn impressive as well. Our defending is beyond terrible thou its near impossible for us to keep a clean sheet. Wonder if wenger will try and get a left back on loan tonight???? and then try and get some decent in the summer. Still pretty gutted could have gained 2 points on chelsea and spuds

If he's willing to play second-fiddle to gibbs for the next 10 years then sign him up arsene! (talking about shaw)

Doubt we'll sign any fullbacks though. Arsene seems to have faith in santos, and after that we'll have coquelin and yennaris if needs be. Please not vermaelen though.

Pretty gutting, gibbs and podolski had a really good understanding over the last few games down that flank.

I'd be inclined to give the job to Jenkinson. Yes he's not left footed, but he's quick and a better defender than Santos.
He's gone and 100% ruled out Villa signing, which means we'll probably get him on loan.
Surely he's got to be looking at our defence, for all the progress Bould has made, we seem to be going 1 step forward 2 steps backwards.

Hadnt thought about that brumbys... perhaps even sagna out there? His experience might put him in better stead than jenk, plus he does have a left foot - saw him cross well with it at least once this morning

Jheez our defending is comical. Enough said about that though.

We were LETHAL in the second half and really should have got all three points. Still with sp*rs and the chavs drawing it made the dropped points feel less bad.

Now we really do need to go on a run though: Stoke (H), Sunderland (A), Villa (H) MUST be nine points.

Apparently signed LB Nacho Monreal from Malaga, 4 year deal, 10 mil.

Think it has surprised all of us, of course as said on the Soccernet feed, "If Gibbs hadn't gone down Arsenal would've made a total of Zero moves"
