Can actually see us putting in the usual "heroic" 2nd leg performance when it's too late and winning 1-0, being "proud of the performance" but falling a goal short for whatever year running it is now.
(The not-so-temporary quite-official) Gooner Thread (Part 2)
Chapman no, but the significance was just as great. Graham just as many major trophies and was the one to break down Liverpool's dominance. I guess as Wenger the great said this morning, he built this club.
Barca tomorrow, I would still play our best team despite the Everton game Saturday. These players have a lot to answer for right now and none of them deserve a rest.
Barca then. Interesting to see what sort of team Wenger selects, given the short turnaround to Saturday early kick off at Everton.
Yup. We need to make sure that we have something in the tank for that. Most important thing from tomorrow is no new injuries, no extra time, and ideally no demoralising hidings.

Reference and context are required when reading "I built the club".
I'll leave it at that for now.
We're no show to get a progress result tomorrow. Hoping it's a good game of football.

Taking quotes out of context - straight from the Suns playbook. This is the sort of shark I'm talking about - criticism is valid but not for dumb reasons. Don't be a part of the rabid mob who discard all facts that don't support their own arguments.

“That is no reflection on the quality of Arsenal. The quality of the way they play the game and the quality of some of their players is there for all to see.
"It is a reflection on their experience, character, and mental strengths.
“There are teams in Europe that don't have the quality that Arsenal have, but you would rather avoid them and play Arsenal - because you know that those teams have experience and character."
Pretty damning from Alves and would have to hurt the players to hear their opponents say things like that.
First goal - Koscielny shouldn't have coughed up possession like that.
Second goal - Bellerin slips trying to push out to him, no pressure plus sublime/lucky shin finish
Third goal - Amazing skill from Messi + us deseperately throwing ourselves forward.
Had we been more focussed we could have avoided the first two, which might have lead to different circumstances for the third.
BUT ultimately we didn't put away chances, Sanchez looked to have the easiest chance not finished, Elneny also should have scored a couple more.
Anyway, I appreciated seeing us shooting more, hopefully that change up results in a fire cracker against Everton on the weekend.
Did Flamini go off injured?
Oh and Elneny needs to take a bow for that finish, he was average in the FA Cup but he's found a great finish for his first club goal. He could score a few more before the seasons out if he keeps that up.
Newly promoted Watford can come to the Emirates and play two strikers, for instance. If my speculation is incorrect and Arsenal are preparing for all matches with forensic fastidiousness, it begs the question as to why the players are not executing instructions. In fairness, confidence seems to be a big issue for the team’s recent travails. They tend to start games reasonably enough, until they concede a goal, at which point panic permeates the entire operation.
Yet it’s difficult to entirely dismiss the current lean spell as ‘form.’ Because poor performances comfortably outnumber impressive ones this season, a theme that has been commonplace since August. Arsenal have a very good collection of players for the most part and when coaxed into some semblance of organisation, they have shown that they can perform at a high level.
But against so called ‘lower’ teams, they revert to an antiquated style of possession play that most teams are entirely conversant with nowadays. As @jcav90 scathingly observes, Arsenal become ‘yesterday’s men playing yesterday’s football.’
Scratching the surface of the Arsenal squad, it doesn’t look particularly well-constructed. It’s difficult to decipher what the style of play is. As we move towards Easter, I am struggling to decode what the plan was back in August and what it might be for the next six weeks. Arsene the “jazzer” hasn’t been able to create a coherent orchestra and consequently, the season has been soundtracked by a procession of bum notes.

Great summary.
Excellent first half there. Great link up play for the first goal, cool finish from Iwobi for the second. Bit of a weird one though, almost seems too comfortable. Expected more from Everton tbh. Just need to make sure we close it out well now.
Three for me, and two for them.

Agreed mate, great huss le from alexis for 2nd goal too.

That early goal calmed the nerves big time.
We just can't rely on scoring early in each game, we seem to struggle the longer games go on when we haven't scored.
And yes real stoked for Iwobi, but gee Welbeck looks sharp compared to Giroud (not hard).
Expected another torrid time at a ground that's usually a tough game but that all seemed too easy. Nice goals and a confidence boost. The challenge on Ospina was similar to what happened to Cech for his head injury so I was initially worried it was going to be a similar thing. Was relieved it was his back he got up holding, though it did seem ridiculous we kept him on when he basically couldn't move.
We must have fudge all confidence in that kid on the bench is all i got from that.

In fairness he did limber back up, sometimes you need 5 minutes just to get going again & it's worth the gamble.
Iwobi looks very promising but is getting way too hyped i reckon. Must say i do feel sorry for campbell not getting f all game time. here's hoping no injures during the international break.
I reckon Iwobi looks better than Rashford. Will be interesting to see where both of them are in a year or two. The fact that Iwobi played Barca at the Nou Camp and was one of our best in a decent performance speaks volumes.

Everton was so poor that Alexis decided to take a breather

Loved that during the game. Nice to see the Everton fans around him appreciated it too.
Is it just me or is it weird that the two ladies are watching him sit in front of them on the big screen, rather than just watching him sit in front of them?

Fixed.
