16m pounds was okay for a reasonably proven EPL striker from a direct rival, i'd say.
Disappointing because I felt like he was just beginning to settle into the team and provided something we have lacked.
16m was a lot back in the day but it's nothing now.
What he has already contributed is probably worth that alone, let alone what he might have if it weren't for the 2x injuries.
Still, he's only 25 and I was very heartened by his comeback, so looking forward to what he might do when he returns. He has all the attributes.
With him out for a bit and Theo going, Wenger must be looking at a big buy or two in the forward line now.
In the prices of the day 16 million was pretty much bargain bin for someone brought in from a direct rival to be the immediate starting striker for a CL club. There's no way Theo will be going now. It wouldn't be Wenger's way because it means he'd need to buy 2 forwards.
Latest Forbes report is out and we're the 5th most valuable football club in the world now having cracked the $2 billion mark, behind only the traditional power houses. We're also expected to announce cash reserves of £250 million in the next set of accounts.

Times reporting that the Board has offered Wenger a 2 year contract extension, but he must decide by October, thus giving us time to find a replacement if he decides next season is to be his last.
Cue civil war in 3... 2... 1...
Heh, Friday 13th no less. It's the hope that kills you.
While I'm obviously against it I'll surprise you Paul. I can actually seen the Board's logic behind it. If I was Ozil or Sanchez I'd be demanding the club show as much ambition in the market as is financially possible this summer, and likely the hierarchy feel a 2016 summer with the pulling power of Wenger, Ozil and Sanchez outweighs a 2017 summer with potentially all of them gone.
Can see the sense in this - had similar thoughts to you AJC after I read about the October deadline for signing. Obviously the board doesn't want him upping sticks at the end of the season with no notice, and no time to properly work out his replacement.
On that note, very good piece by Tim Stillman on the Board and Kroenke, and how the next Managerial appointment will probably be their acid test;
Good old Spurs.
Imagine only needing a point away to an already relegated side, who are then reduced to 10 men midway through the second half, and still going on to lose.
Not only lose, but lose 5-1. Yes, five goals to one.
This coming after capitulations at home to West Brom and Southampton, and away at Chelsea. Absolute scenes.
I remember when i said they would probably finish above us a few weeks back. Had a mare there. Completely forgot what they are capable of.
They'll never be able to live this down either. Best PL season ever for them wasn't it? Still finished 11 pts off Leicester and unable to even finish above their biggest rivals who have been out of sorts since Boxing Day.
Tottenham, never change.
Three for me, and two for them.
Heh, can't believe they got slaughtered by an already relegated team. Thought it might not be an easy game with Newcastle players playing for moves and wanting to put in a good final PL performance in front of their own fans but that's ridiculous. Spurs fell apart even more so than we did. Didn't think we'd end up anywhere near them let alone overtake them but should have remembered Spurs always gonna Spurs.
Nice way to end a season full of disappointment and regret. Almost feel sorry for my parents having to go through the Spurs game today. They are already stressed an on edge waiting for some potentially life changing medical news early this week, possibly even later today, so they could do without the misery they'll feel this morning.
