Surge has anything happened with setting up the Wellington supporters group yet? You were mentioning a get together the other week but don't think anything got arranged in the end.

Looking at the fixtures the first possibility for getting together for a game looks to be the first CL matchday which should be 6.45am on 14 or 15 September.

Remember the Ozil signing? The rumours picked up over the last couple of days of the window, when we looked set with the squad we had with Santi playing in the hole pretty well, and I think Jack had just taken the #10 that summer too. Then boom Mesut Ozil had signed with us, and it was awesome. I'm holding out hope we'll see a bit of that in the coming days.

I'd argue the opposite.

Angsting on the internet will shorten a life.

I think it's the combo of a poor start to the season and lack of intent to improve the playing squad have made this a hard season to get excited about. But we still have 30+ weeks to go and I'm sure it'll get better

I was in England when we signed Ozil and yes, the rumours did pick up just before the transfer deadline day but up till then, all we had signed was Sanogo and Flamini on a free. There was certainly the same headlines in the papers about us not buying and after the NLD against Spurs, we gathered around the Tony Adams statue and everyone was chanting "1-0 and we spent fudge all"

Not yet AJ, have been a bit flat out with a new job and other life stuff... but a venue is sorted - though I'm now based entirely in the Hutt so it's a bit harder for me. Just need to think about some promo stuff to try and engage people - easier said than done though as it's tough to translate words into actions - understandably.

Anyone (else) keen to help out? Ideas/suggestions/actions are welcome :)

According to David Ornstein, both Shkodran Mustafi and Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez have signed on the dotted line.

Never heard of Lucas Perez, he's 27 and scored 17 La Liga goals last season which was his first real succssful season of scoring a decent number of goals. He's also spent most of his career in the lower leagues, (Spanish Jamie Vardy?).

It was weird this morning listening to Radiosport talk about the Champions League draw for the English clubs and not hearing Man United and Chelsea mentioned. Equally weird was when they said Tottenham Hotspur. Admittedly, I was half asleep.

Perez?

Never heard of him.

Such an Arsenal signing! Cracked me up no end. Spanish Vardy sounds like an apt description looking at his career path.

Did the youtube thing, the performance against Barca last year particularly impresses - dragged them back from 2-0 down with a goal and an assist.

His style matches what we've been looking for, guess we'll find out if he's good enough.

Sounding like Mustafi might finally get done as well.

Champions League draw is out, we got a decent draw I think. PSG, Basel and Ludogorets Razgrad.

Happy with the CL draw just for getting to play some new teams we haven't played in recent memory instead of Dortmund/Bayern in our group every season.

I'm keen to help out, though not sure what that will be doing. Guess the first thing should be to try and get a group together for a game. Now the CL draw is out we could try and book in the first matchday against PSG which will be 6.45am on Wednesday 14 September, though that's assuming it's one of the matches that gets screened live on one of the channels. Looking at the fixtures it looks like it could be the best match up of day 1 so should be on. Could try and check with the venue for that morning assuming the game is on.

Could try and promote it through the Arsenal NZ Facebook page I guess, and maybe eventually get setup a Wellington page.

Been burned too many times before, not buying into anything until an announcement from the club. Anything before that is speculation.

Sounds like it is finally done.

And we've paid a pretty penny for Mustafi in the end, 35m!

Makes you wonder about all the rubbish in the press over the last few weeks, claiming we wouldn't go above 25. Obviously not true.

So that means 5 players signed this window so far, approx 90 million pounds spent.

Our most expensive ever transfer window?

I'll wait  until the window closes before voicing my displeasure at our offseason.

More the most part is seems circus like.

Favourable Champs League draw.

Group C and D looks mean

Cocks will need some stiffness to.

tbh, I am most disappointed we have not offloaded oxlade-chamerlin and Walcott, and boosted in those areas.

Give the Ox another season or even two before the make or break call comes out.

As for Walcott he's been there what, 10 years now, he needs to go, but for some reason Wenger is spellbound by him so can't see it happening.

I agree about wally, but not Ox. I think he makes things happen for us. What he needs is to settle on one position

On a different note, I fully though Debuchy would go permanently in this window, so either it's happening hush hush or he's staying and ok with being backup all season??

I do hope a solid Prem team get Chambers on loan as that would be a win/win

We may wait until Jenkinson is fit before letting him go in Jan perhaps?

Looking at the Ricardo Rodriguez rumours a while back, and the Sidibe comments from the other day, it does seem like we've been shopping around for another fullback.

Hard position to fill though, as we have Bellerin who looks like an odds-on starter for the next 10 years.

Disagree about Ox, deserves more game time. Still can't cross to save himself though.

Walcott needs to fudge off.

Three for me, and two for them.

Perez has a bit of the Chamakh's about him to be honest but Mustafi looks a brilliant deal.

Former Arsenal reserve keeper Stuart Taylor who is now 35 has just signed a one year deal with Southampton. Incredibly in a career that spans 19 years, he has only played 75 games.

Awful, devastating news for Arsenal fans as their wonderkid Takuma Asano is loaned out to Stuttgart in the 2. Bundesliga. What will Arsenal ever do without him?

Rodriguez wouldve been a Gibbs replacement though

Always liked him when he was backup around 2002. Thought he was going to be the long term replacement for Seaman but ended up making a career as a number 2 keeper instead. Remember seeing his face appear in Man City's celebrations when they first won the PL.
