Ffs. Fucking 4th spot mentality. Terrible choice not to re sign him.

If we spend money this off-season, in areas of need, then I can deal with this.

If we get to August and no decent money has been spent, I'll be p*ssed.

Heart wanted Cesc back, but head says we other players more. If he wants to play under the worst human being of all time, so be it. Lets just beat them to a pulp.

after mulling over it, ive now moved to this point as well.

As much as I love Fab, he would have been a big cut of our transfer "war chest"

it just hurts to see him in blue.

Bacary officially at MCFC. Nice write up from him thanking the club.

The Club may have misjudged the mood of many fans re: the Cesc decision. Reading Cesc's press release regarding the Chelsea move it would seem he wanted to be back at Arsenal.

Maybe wishful thinining on my behalf.

I read Cesc's comments as him being diplomatic. I.e. he has more class than to say "I'm so excited to be joining the best club ever and I've dreamed of this day since I was a boy".

seems to be a lot of Arsenal associated players scoring at this World Cup.

Anyone watch Aurier for Ivory Coast and Uchida for Japan

Aurier looked to be exactly like the reviews, good speed and cross and slightly dodgy positioning so he puts in some heated challenges to make up for it.

Can imagine he could get a few yellows/reds...

Uchida looked to bomb forward often

Joel Campbell is flavour of the day, would be an upgrade on Nicklas Bendtner and Park Chu Young lol

some variation in stories linking he to Arsenal

We need a RB for sure so hopefully something is in the works

Aurier's Dad seemed very keen on signing for Wenger so fingers crossed.

Haven't seen Aurier, but I did seen the Italian RB Darmian who was unfreaking believable. I was bloody inspired.

Wenger on Campbell;

“He is maturing well.”

“We talked with Wenger,” Fabregas told the BBC, “but he said he’d find it hard to make a place for me on the pitch as Mesut Ozil had my position covered.”

Campbell was excellent indeed, not sure how we would get gametime for vela, gnabry and campbell......Gnabry on loan for a season?

Vela won't be coming by the looks.

Gnabry is young enough to keep developing in the carling cup and with minutes off the bench in bigger games.

First time I had properly watched Campbell and was bloody fantastic. Deserves to be given a chance and there would certainly seem to be little point in bothering with Vela again when we already have this guy. Surely he'd have to be a better option off the bench than Sanogo. What a left foot! With Wenger confirming he will be coming back I guess that's the striker signing sorted.

As for right backs, great crosses from Aurier but looked a bit raw defensively. Darmian looked fantastic for Italy, we should definitely be looking at him based on that game.

If we do end up with Giroud, Campbell and Sanogo as our strikers next year with Walcott alsoable to play there, then I'd be happy with that.

Would also mean we've got shedloads of cash lying around to get a quality DMF, RB and keeper, as well as some more CB cover.

Campbell can play wide as well as striker. That fact along with Gnabry's development suggests to me that another wide player would be completely unnecessary.

i disagree i still think we need a quality striker along with campbell

I think if someone quality like Balotelli/Mandzukic/Morata/Benzema is available we'd be nuts not to go for it.

On the strikers, I had not really watched Bony for Swansea before, but watched him a lot in the Ivory Coast match.

If we're looking for a second Giroud to add depth then he'd be the go. Looked to me like he played in a very similar way - they knocked balls to him with his back to goal all the time and he was constantly looking for one-touch passes and flicks for on-rushing midfielders. It was almost carbon-copy Giroud a lot of the time.

Nice headed finish for his goal as well.

Not a bad player at all. 25mil could be a tad steep but not the most expensive either.

Yea guess I'd agree with that, except for Morata. He's young and not proven yet. I'd forego him if we've got Campbell and Sanogo in the squad.

What I want from a new striker is an improvement on Giroud. The two parts of Giroud's game that I think will prevent him from being World Class is firstly his speed, and secondly his finishing.

Off the ball his runs aren't quick enough, and he doesn't scare defenders with his pace meaning they can afford to push us higher up. Secondly how many times in clutch moments did he just miss a cross? Part of that was speed, but part of that is all the other components of finishing.

I'm not saying he's slow and can't finish, I'm saying I would want to see a new signing be better in those areas than he currently is.

Can picture Wenger rubbing his hands with glee watching Campbell yesterday and thinking "now the fans have seen this I can get away with not spending anything."

Does anyone know how long Flamini signed for?

I thought it was only one year, but haven't seen anything about him being released or re-signed...

Was it two years?

Striker purchase needs to be different to Giroud's playing style

Giroud - Walcott - Sanogo - Campbell

I'd go Jackson Martinez.

That's silly - good for depth but not good for having different options. Remy, Bony and Giroud are all quite similar.

Vermaelen to Man U is doing the rounds in a number of papers/rumour sites

I am not surprised he wants to leave, but why would we again sell to a rival, do Man U, City, Chelsea or Liverpool sell to us, hell no!

It's only ok if they move away from the PL or a lower level club imo.

Why do we keep doing the same?

Our 3 most recent captains would be playing for rivals, Cesc-Chelsea, RVP-Man U and Vermaelen-Man U

Vermalen leaving to United might benefit us, he's not better than Per or Kosc, and he's late 20's. Chance to reinvest in a Varane type plus a younger player to fill the 4th spot if Miquel isn't up to it.
