Allright fellow yids?

Club is advertising tickets to the July pre-season cup at Wembly with Barca, Celtic and Al Halyghaly FC. Any other London based YF Yids thinking of going? Perhaps we can put a little clan together . .  I think I've got three or four other kiwis interested.

"The two-day tournament at Wembley Stadium will consist of two matches across each day. We take on La Liga leaders FC Barcelona in our opening fixture on Friday, July 24 (kick off 8.00pm), with Celtic playing Al Ahly on the same day (kick off 5.15pm).

THFC face Scottish league champions Celtic in our second and final match on Sunday, July 26 (kick off 4.00pm), while FC Barcelona will meet Al Ahly in the day's other fixture (kick off 1.15pm).

Tickets for this event are being sold via the tournament organiser's appointed ticket agent, Ticketmaster.

> Tickets are now on general sale.

> Tickets are limited to 6 per person.

Tickets are priced at 29.00, 39.00, 49.00, 59.00 each, with concession tickets for under 16s / over 65s priced at 20.00, 30.00, ï¿½40.00, 50.00 each. Two-day tickets are also available and are priced at 50.00, 65.00, 80.00, 100.00 each with concession tickets for under 16s / over 65s priced at 35.00, 50.00, 65.00, 85.00 each."

1-1 Draw with Barcelona in the Wembley Cup.

Youngster Jake Livermore scored a late equaliser after Bojan Krkic scored earlier in the first half.

Cheers

Were those new young defenders playing?  Sounds like King, Woodgate and Dawson are out for a while.

Here is link: http://football365.com/story/0,17033,8705_5452392,00.html

"With Spurs short on numbers, Vedran Corluka, Tom Huddlestone, Pascal Chimbonda and youngster Dorian Dervite filled in at centre-back but could not prevent Bojan getting on the scoresheet."

Thanks again

Not been keeping tabs on Spurs for a few weeks - more concerned with the shenanigans going on up at Tyneside.

Looks like there are a good cohort of youngsters in the squad.  Good also to see Palacios back.

If you're interested it seems like Patrick Viera has told Redknapp he wants to come to Spurs so hopefully this happens.

That would be intersting and unusual (but good).  Normally the other way round isn't it?

The only one I didn't have any angst over was Pat Jennings - he was the MAN and a loyal Spurs player(same vintage as Steve Perryman)

Rather different and I don't think too many arsenal fans will be happy at Patrick for this move though.
But if he comes will be a great signing, but still need a centre back though.

In more transfer rumours we are also looking at Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from madrid.

Bent in definite talks with Sunderland and with Pav I was reading on FootBall365 about him in talks with a German team but not really too sure about that though.

So tell me, two more young full backs..what the feck is all that about? While fullback has, inter alia, been an achillies heel at N17 OAP for as long as I have supported Spurs (apart from Graeme Roberts, god bless his soul)do we really need another two 'for the future'?

As for the ex arsenal bloke, wassisname? - the twat will have to score four against them at Highbury for me to be convinced. Churlish, quite possibly...it's just not right.

You are a hard yiddo to please aren't you!

I assume that the young'uns are there because King and Woodgate are no spring chickens and particularly King with his dodgy knee must be on borrowed time.  Dunno who's available in that dept that would have a bit of age and experience that would within 'Arry's (or Levy's) budget.

ex-sc#m is named after a flat screen TV.  But (please sit down now HH) he is pretty handy and it would be nice to have him score at Highbury (or Emirates I think they now call it).  I do think however that Spurs do have a decent midfield, although one ex-Toon player, Jenas, seems to be a bit of a surplus.

So my call should the gaffer ever decide to get in touch with me is to look at defence (sorted perhaps with the young ones) and after ditching Bent and Pavvy, look for another striker to complement Defoe and /or Keano (so better make that two strikers).

Dust off those Robot Dance moves folks.

The little and large show is coming to The Lane with a Crouch Defoe/Keane partnership.

I don't have the luxury of SkyTV or broadband (I know - very 20th Century of me) so I haven't seen a Spurs game for a while (still got the 1991 FA Cup on video though).

Does Keano still do that silly little dance?  That would go well with the gangly robot thing from Crouch.

Question for HH, WhitbyFever and other like-minded individuals with impeccable taste.  Saw this on http://www.tottenhamhotspurs.tv/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=90:

" The very day in 1919 that Arsenal pinched Tottenhams place in the First Division, the clubs pet parrot collapsed and died. The parrot had been a gift from a ships captain as the Spurs team returned from a 1908 tour of Argentina & Uruguay and it lived a healthy and happy life on its perch at White Hart Lane for a full 11 years before its untimely end. Its death is thought to be where the phrase as sick as a parrot came from."

Now does anyone know if the parrot was a Norwegian Blue?

Hmmmmm..I think the 'sick as a parrot' idiom predates that event by a couple of hundred years at least, but a good story nevertheless.

Be good to get rid of those surplus to requirements...but more importantly get two fit centre backs for the season opener against the scallys.HarryHotspur2009-07-31 20:49:51

it's better to win when your traditional rivals are strong
for the last while Tot have been so poor it's not a challenge
this is not good for either side eh?

anyway everything goes in cycles so hand it back with interest when the boots on the other foot eh?

Yep, looking promising for the start of the season.

But under no illusions as in the past (i.e. will challenge the big 4...yeah right).  Hoping for a tilt at qualifying for Europe - but some stiff competition for that.

Tough season. The big four is still the ones we want to get but ManCity looks like a handful this year as well as Everton. I hope we don't lose to cheap clubs. We always seem to do a winning number on the big rated clubs but then lose to a low rated club the next match. The recruitments this years is more balanced. Much better than last preseason. I am happy that we don't have to worry about Newcastle this season as well.

Yes - goes without saying!  We played some real naff footy last season but when it came to the Norf Lundun Cup the lads did step up:

EPL games 0-0 and 4-4

And what about the league cup semi-final (Jan 2008)...5-blimmin' marvellous-1.  Sort of ranks up there with Germany 1 - Eng-gur-lund 5  a few years back (only BETTER!)

Also AWB - as you might see from my avatar I'm also greatful that Spurs aren't playing the Toon either.  That's the only good thing about them going to the fizzy pop league.
