New home shirt arrived in the post today. Looks bloody great. Reid name and number on the back. He better still be coming next month...

went to the game last night.  A couple of points:

* It was cold
* It is time for the Met Police to start planning for Millwank vs West Ham in 2011/2012.

What do you think the implications are for Winston Reid following today's news that Avram Grant has three matches to save his job?

As I understand it, Grant is a huge Winston Reid fan.  If he was to go, would Reid's immediate playing future be in doubt as a result?

If, and that is a big word when it comes to speculating axes falling, Grant does go, and picks up another job, then you can be assured he will come back and pick who he wants to take with him. Note the number of ex Portsmouth players he has been in for.

Is this the part where I start an unsubstantiated rumour about Avram Grant moving to Blackburn and taking Reid with him to partner up with Nelsen at the back...? SeriouslyBoard2010-12-16 17:24:12

Absolutely. never any doubt right?

But seriously I think despite the stick he gets for not being as animated as other managers on the sideline, he has shown me enough to keep him on.

E.G:
- Jacobsen and Piquionne have been great buys
- Bringing Sears back early and moving him to right mid (although he was playing on the right at Sc**thorpe too)
- Having the bravery to pick Specs in place of Parker against Man U, and what a game he had
- Keeping faith in Tomkins after a torrid start. despite plenty of competition iat CB  (Gabbs, DaKosta, TBH, Reid). He's been one of our best lately.

And out of the relegation zone, too.  Do you think it was al just unsubstantiated rumour, or do you think there was some truth to it?

Thoughts on signing Wayne Bridge on loan?
Permalink Permalink
about 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
If we sign Bridge plus Robbie Keane and one other you would have to say its been a good transfer window for us. A long way to go yet though.

If we sign Robbie Keane it will not be a good window for us.  Let Birmingham or someone else waste their money on him.

At the end of this season,  we lose all the big salaries that we have been committed to - Dyer, Boa Morte, Upson so the last thing we want to do is saddle ourselves with some more like Keane on 65k per week for 2 years.  Bridge on loan is fine as we can get rid of him in the end of the season, or make him an offer we can afford (based on his success).  We can also play the Frankie Saturday card which I am sure is worth about 20k per week.

Match against Arsenal set to be Grant's last with Martin O'Neill to take over.

Might as well revive this as a fellow hammer. What a transfer window. Bridge has been an absolute revelation as a left back. Ilunga had an excellent spell with us on loan but as soon as we signed him he became utterly awful. Bridge has made a big difference (despite the game which I believe was his debut where he was arguably at fault for all three goals). Hitzlsperger returning from injury has been a load of Parkers back and our structure has improved immensely. Also, who can forget about Demba Bavez...

I must admit when we signed him after he failed a medical with Stoke I thought "jeez we just don't ever learn do we?" but he's been an absolute revelation up front. To say we'll survive could still be a push but I like that we're going down kicking and screaming. 7 teams could very easily be going down at this point and I'd like to think we'll end up being one of the lucky four.

Scott Parker awarded Footballer of the Year, only the second West Ham player to get this, after Bobby Moore.
Good on you.

We tend to do well against Blackburn and I reckon we'll get all 3 points. All the best for the game FM.

Arsenal - After thinking long and hard for a reply I think it's fair to say we've got a better chance of staying up than you do of winning the league this season (thats all I've got

Hardly likely to touch him with a barge pole.
When he was at Sheffield Utd he tried to get us relegated with Tevez. Cost us a fortune.
Moaning wingebag.

Unhappy today, but next season we will be winning most weeks with home grown kids and smiles on our faces.
