Apart from the "which league is best" discussion I couldn't find a general Bundesliga thread. So here goes.

"Kick-off", the Bundesliga weekly show by Deutsche Welle, shows 9pm this Friday on Stratos Channel (just series-linked it on MySky) and is really worth a watch (even if just to broaden your football knowledge!). The interviews can be a bit hokey, but there's a good dose of highlights. Times shown last year were a bit erratic, so you have to be on your toes

A pity it's all we get, because it's a very good league to watch/follow.

Although a long time Bayern fan (almost embarrassingly as I tend to go for underdogs, but that's where my rellies live in Germany), I have also developed a fondness for 1FC Nuernberg (nearest club to where my mum last lived before she left Germany). Wer sind der Club!

I will be keeping a close look at proceedings.

Thomas Mueller's goal was amazing.

Grew up watching Bundesliga on the telly, still think that it's one of the best leagues around to watch if you're a football fan.

Lot of evenly matched teams, attacking football, great atmosphere at the grounds.

Sounds excellent. Few questions:
- Is the show in German?
- What is Stratos? Never heard of it...

My bad.
The programme shown is "Kick Off Countdown" and not "Kick Off" which is a highlights show (and much better). Bugger. More hokey than highlights I'm sorry.

As for discussion above re 1860 v FC Bayern. Have tried to latch on to die Loewen (1860), but just couldn't manage it as I appear to have been dipped too heavily in the red side of Munich in my early days. Beckenbauer, Mueller, Hoeness, Maier, Breitner et al. Couldn't go past them really.

Nice shirts though lads.

Edit: I should add that last year they showed Kick-Off (the highlights show). It may still reappear.Turfmoore2010-08-27 21:46:05

Werder Bremen are my second team. I watch them when I can.

Bremen with a win over Hamburg in the northern derby this morning. Werder have not made a great start but should be OK.

Mainz, though, are the surprise package of the season so far. 6 wins out of 6 and a 2-1 win at Bayern this morning. Not too bad.

Werder are a favourite of mine too. Lived there for a year in '92 when "Kiwi" Rufer was one of their stars. They have been on the up and up pretty much ever since.
While Bayern clean up more often than most in the Bundesliga there is still the opportunity for a number of other clubs to be in with a shout on other occasions (Wolfsburg). The title often goes down to the wire with 3 or 4 teams in with a chance. This is a phenomenon that is now sadly lacking in many leagues around the world (EPL and Spain for example).

My German team is Moenchengladbach, but I don't follow them very much, I can probably name 1 player. How are they going?

thanks. Not a very good start for them at all then, but the table is a bit odd at the moment

Werder 4-1 away vs Brussia Monchengladbach. Great to be among the goals again. Only 10 points behind Mainz now!

Oh how things change. Werder now flirting dangerously with the wrong end of the table.

For anyone in ChCh the Bundesliga Countdown is on CTV at 12.30pm Friday and 2.30am Saturday.

Sounds like Werder are interested in Niko Kranjcar from Spurs. He's wasting his time at White Hart Lane and Bremen need the injection of creativity.

Mitch Langerak had a cracker of a game against Bayern Munich for Dortmond - they won 3-1...he is going to be Aussies #1 sooner rather than later imovaleo2011-02-27 12:51:49

Off to Germany for a few weeks. Not sure if I will make it to a Bundesliga match, but have a couple of 2nd tier matches in my sights. FC St Pauli v TSV 1860 Munich & Dynamo Dresden v Bochum. Quite excited.

Plan to wear my YF top for the Dresden match (Dresden are in yellow & black). It could get quite feisty. This is a crucial match from 3rd tier last year. The Hansa fans in the link not known for their friendliness. Check out the teams coming out at about the 3:15 mark amongst other frivolity.

Fun and games in DresdenTurfmoore2011-08-30 22:22:03

Caught Nurnberg v Bremen (and Dresden v Bochum). Magic. Wir sind der Club!

Love the Bundesliga.

That is all.

Bayern have confirmed their signing of Dante.

After a quick google (because they obviously haven't contracted a dead poet), I have concluded that we will soon see this chap dashing around the pitch with Robben and Ribery:

Hmm.
European Cup Final 1965:
Internazionale 1 Benfica 0

I'm guessing you mean the Cup Winners' Cup final of 1965 (West Ham beat 1860 Munich 2-0).
