The point im trying to make is that people are reading headlines  like "Fox beats ESPN to champions league rights" or "ESPN gets share of live EPL games" and think it aplpies to New Zealand.

IT DOESNT
-ESPN lost out on the USA rights to champions league football only.
-ESPN bought EPL coverage in the UK only.
In New Zealand nothing has changed, ESPN NZ & Aus have the rights to show it in our region. and Sky NZ by the rights to broadcast the EPL in NZ -they get a package from the UK and thats it, they dont even choose the games they get to show - the EPL has a rule about showing every team live at least twice, they just make sure each teams live quotas are used when they play the bigger teams, thats why we always get to see the Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal games, but you very rarely saw the likes of Stoke vs Hull live last year.

Cheers for the post. Got a bit worried when I read someone dishing out rubbish about Champions League not being on this season. Thought it couldn't possibly true, but yea know... New Zealand... Football coverage.... Yea can't be too sure sometimes.

Least the Dogs Bolix in Auckland is showing it live.

. Why would they play Fiorentina ahead of the Celtic v Arse game?? Surely there are more people interested in Celtic and Arsenal than Fiorentina and Sporting. If it was Atleti I could understand, but that seems so silly...

Gerrard subbed after 25 minutes, looks like he'll be out for the wekend against United.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Interesting results this morning.

Barca lose 2-1 to Rubin at home.
Inter only 2-2 with Dynamo Kiev in Milan.
Liverpool getting ready for Europa League in the spring.
Seven goal thriller in Hungary.
Sevilla too easy in Germany, 3-1 over Stuttgart.

And Rangers providing the lols.

Fascists lose at home! A very dramatic game with a superb outcome (and terrible refereeing apparently)!

Milan had a seemingly legit 4th goal disallowed, can't figure out why. Lead to a scuffle which is always entertaining.

I f**king reckon!!

I hope we don't sack Rafa, regardless of how the next few weeks go. There is simply nobody else.

I do, however, hope we sack Resino! He was meant to fix the defence...

The only good thing was Madrid losing at home, but even that barely put a smile on my face.

Well, I'm getting used to it at the moment! But seriously, I can actually think about what I say before I post. In real life its all depression for the rest of the day/week, as well as smashing a ball as hard as possible at lunchtime to get rid of all the plastic Manc fans! But I think WAY too much about Liverpool and Atleti, so I tend to be more reasoned after the game; particularly given some of the ridiculous over-reaction and lack of knowledge of the game from some people.

yes ill-informed or inane reviews or commentary is painful. Or people going on and on about the same thing time after weary time.

that is why I am pleased we get ESPN here, their Press Pass crew, in particular Tommy Smith provide the sort of fair minded and balanced opinion I can rely on.
