This weekend is the game which means the most for Atletico- a chance for the team of the city to get one over the team of the world.
The galaticos visit the Calderon without Ronaldo and form a little bit up and down. Meanwhile, los indios come into the game in terrible form; lying in the relegation zone (much to the amusement of the Madridistas) and having recently replaced their manager. However, despite a 1-0 defeat to Bilbao and an early exit from the Champions League, Ateltico's recent performances have been much improved.
With a brace for Kun midweek against a team who have been sniffing around for his signature recently, he promptly commented about how much he respected Chelsea. He also added: "I want to fight with Atletico to the death. I almost feel like I was born here. It's a club that has given me a lot, pleasure as well as pain, but it's a place I feel very happy." Long may that attitude continue, although it is difficult to see him staying around for too much longer.
This should prove an interesting game and Atletico's record at home is only marginally better than their (terrible) away record against Real. Who could forget the 1-2 defeat last season- with Madrid scoring in the 95th minute to win it, despite Simao having levelled only minutes earlier...
Vamos Atletico!
