Poor old England.  Never mind, they can stay home, turn on the tv, and watch the mighty Greece win this title as well.

Got to hand it to Hrvatska on this one. They were by far the better side against England, and played some impressive football. I think Tommy Smyth with a 'Y' disagreed, but why the f*** would you listen to that idiot's opinions on football-related matters....I don't think he's ever kicked a ball beyond his armchair.

Yer Luka Modric plays for Dinamo Zagreb. Chelsea and Arsenal are after him but will have to pay 30million POUNDS, because when he started at Dinamo he signed a 10year deal so they have to buy that out.

ON TOMMY SMYTH WITH A "Y" fuking w**ker...espn is useless they actually dont know anything about anything!! ESPN SOCCERNTE PRESSPASS is a completely made up show with faulsefied questions etc...I head a rumour he used to be a interior decorator and they picked him up when doing some work at the espn studios...and dont get me started on that f**king jarnuzs michalik muppet.

I hate how in NZ the general public thinks that England are the Gods of football. The news here only show English games etc and the poo juber reporters talk up how great they are.

This result was great for the rest of the world, i would rather see russia at EURO08 than England.

The 4-0 win over Greece was a set up by the English, They knew the greek team was depleted and in bad form. This was to drum up support for their newly appointed coach....they should have scheduled a real frendly instead, ha ha ha ha ha

Pffft, 30 million pounds is nothing these days. You make it sound like it would be the sale of the century.

Three for me, and two for them.

Arsenal have first right for Luka Modric and there is no way Wenger would pay 30m GBP for him. You're having a laugh mate, he ain't worth that.

I see reports from August 07 valuing him at 8m GBP. Where the hell did the 30m figure come from?

uhm search "luka modric arsenal chelsea" in google and its like insideworld.com or something. Hes only worth under10mil but dinamo dont want to let him go and they have to buy out the 10years.

buffonII mate you couldnt even put two measly dollers together.

personally i think he is a good player but not worth all this time, money and attention. Hes only worth about 15million as a player alone(MAX!!) I dont see where he would fit in at Arsenal ( e.g centremids hleb fabregas) or at cheslea.

Personally I think it's only Croats placing all this time, money and attention on him.

He might be a good player but I'll tell you right now Wenger would never pay more than 10m for him, and Arsenal have first right of refusal on him.

Modric is one of the best young players in the world right now. I see/listen to him play every week, and I'll feel sadder when he leaves Dinamo than I was when Boban and Suker left.
He shouldn't go to England first up though, he'll get ruined there and have the living crap kicked out of him before he even shows what he can do. Personally I hope he goes to Germany first - Bayern Munich were looking to buy him in European summer but Mamic wasn't happy with the money they offered. Rakitic did this in the summer and it seems to be working for him, and he'll probably end up going for even more money than Modric in the end since he's younger.
Also, I don't know about this "Arsenal have first refusal on Modric". I know that Wenger's keen and has been scouting him, but there's no legal obligation of any kind that I'm aware of. As for how much money he'll go for - that's anyone's guess. It'll depend on how much Mamic will want for him (he surely has a figure in mind), how Modric performs, especially in European competition, and how keen he is to move on from Dinamo at this point in his career. For example, Corluka was very keen to leave at the end of last season, and probably ended up under-selling himself a bit. Modric is overall a smarter guy, so he'll probably show a bit more sense when looking to go to a bigger league.

I support arsenal aswel have since i was a little kid. But i am stunned that you know what Arsene Wenger would pay for a player. You have  a God given talent for knowing amazing facts that no one else knows.

I would rather see him in Germany with the likes of Petric and Babic.Just seems like he would fit in and grow as a player there.

Babic is in Spain these days, with Real Betis.

Not arguing there, just pointing out that Babic is not in Bundesliga anymore. List of current Croatian national team players playing in Germany is below:

Ivica Olic (HSV Hamburg)
Jurica Vranjes and Ivan Klasnic (Werder Bremen)
Ivan Rakitic (Schalke 04)
Robert Kovac and Mladen Petric (Borussia Dortmund)
Josip Simunic (Hertha Berlin)
