turks say that when they play greece they will play a 1-4-5-3 (their maths isnt too hot)

this is just half the banner, i believe it has somthing to do with cyprus. I will post it up soon

last game they had a banner that said "Greece gold medals in swimming 1922"

(poland + portugal) on espn site it said they had played 12 games and they were 3points clear of other nations who had played 11, obviosly there was a mix up

I think, Scotland can beat Italy at home.

The fans could be a big factor. and of coarse Mcfadden

make sure you guys have all the fans under control. Think we've seen enough of streakers and pitch invaders this month..although Dida's behaviour was simply shocking (then again, wtf do you expect from an AC Milan player??)

But Italy it's different. We're tough and if somebody tries to slap one of us, we'll ran after them...

Maybe because that French side was much more talented than the current Italian one?

Think the place where the World Cup is currently residing begs to differ...

Although without Totti it's going to be a different Italy.
When he retires it's going to be a very different AS Roma
a different Serie A
a different football.

The greatest football ever to exist

Well, I was pointing out that the French World Cup/EURO 2000 winning team was more talented than the 2006 Italian World Cup winning team, so where the current World Cup is residing is immaterial.

I thought it referred to the Turkish taking of Constantinople in 1453. These days, of course, Constantinople is known as Istanbul.

I bloody hate to say it, but you have a point, damn!

I'm sorry I just get all twitchy when someone 'touches' my colours! :D
I do agree that the team which won the world cup wasn't the strong we've ever had..

thats right mate, 1453 is the year the ottoman empire took "istanbul".Turks say they will play that as a little joke towards the GREEKS. LAst game they had a lot of banners about cyprus perhaps this year it was just at the byzantine empire. Either way the Greeks spoke were it counted 0-1 win oeoeoeoe Euro08 oeoeoeoeoe

Greece will be seeded, providing they qualify, since they're the defending champions. That was known even before the qualifying started.

Italy won't be seeded. The fourth seed will be the team with the highest co-efficient from the last three qualifying campaigns for the big tournaments (ie. World Cup and EURO Championships), and Italy are nowhere near the running there. The fourth seed will be one of Germany, Croatia, Romania, The Netherlands or Czech Republic depending on the results from the final two qualifying rounds. Hope it's not us though, being seeded won't be that much of an advantage considering the other seeds.el grapadura2007-11-01 20:20:28

Yes, of course, I completely forgot that Greece has already qualified. My bad.
Italy won't be seeded - being World Champions only ensures a) that they're among top seeds in the qualifying for the next World Cup and b) that they're among the top seeds at the World Cup provided they qualify. The criteria that UEFA have set out for top seeding for EURO 2008 is the following: the hosts, Switzerland (Group A) and Austria (Group B). The defending champions Greece, no group assigned. The team with best qualifying record over the last three qualifying cycles for major tournaments, no group assigned. Like I've already said, Italy's record in these qualifying matches means they won't be among top seeds in EURO 2008.

Us is Croatia.el grapadura2007-11-02 18:08:25

Give us more of that then.

Re PAO v AEK re Twigara, I went to see them at the Olympic Stadium last year. Poor AEK fans were huddled in a corner of the ground. If the PAO fans could have got to them, there would have been some serious injuries. Perhaps significant "collateral damage." Then I was watching the news on TV after the game, and saw half a dozen PAO fans beating a hapless AEK fan lying on the ground with sticks.

I'm pleased to say the score was Mighty PAO 1 AEK 0.

dude last year we lost 2-1 at home, and that game was the start of the NO AWAY FANS POLICY

I believe gate 13 lined up flare launchers and fired flares at gate 21 (AEK's gate and away bay) started fights and set fire to the stadium, the game was held up for and hour while the fire fighters faught with the AEK fans.

we have fun with the AEK fans dont we

It's forgivable on Wakefield Park a week after a rain deluge, when the howling southerly wind dries it out and turns it into something like the surface of the moon, but on the equivalent of a bowling green, the chances of a bobble like that are not high....

Re Warzycha, what's your prediction for the score this weekend in Athens....?

How bout you Twigara? How much are the mighty PAO going to thrash tin omada tis Tourkias by?

haha fenerbache right??

3-1,  PAO is the best team in Greece and has been for a while just their management is so messed up they loose fans (look at this year YF could outchant Gate 13) and they loose to smaller teams but win derbies. in greece usually whoever wins the most between derbys wins the "superbodelo" (exception PAO last year)

OK, here's the plan. We round up Gate 13, and send them to London to take back the Parthenon marbles. Then they can return to the Leoforo, and have something to sing about.

Gkekas (hatrick)
Amanatidis
Basinas - this goal was amazing

GERMANY 4-0 CYPRUS

oh well you cant win them all.....

every result sucked except the greek one in my eyes, russia loosing, scotland loosing (BS free kick), Norway loosing, Croatia loosing, Cyprus loosing (i only wanted them to score a goal though )...

lets hope croatia beats england so we can all laugh at them....their 4-0 win over greece wont mean sh*t if they are not in EURO08

England's 4-0 win over Greece....???!!!  I can't believe they celebrated that like the superior football side they think themselves to be. They peaked a month after the World Cup was won.....!!!!!  That explained a lot to me about why they haven't won anything.

The All Blacks fall into the same category I think.

Greece don't do friendlies. I saw them play 5 or 6 last year, and they were awful each time. They just turn up for the souvlaki, and win matches that count.
