Switzerland are a decent side, they may get out of their group.

Austria are rubbish, even FIFA couldn't rig it so that they make it through.

All they need is someone good at winning penalties............

Yes, but for that they'll need to get into the opposition penalty box...that may be a bridge too far for them...

That's ok. Just play 9 at the back, boot the ball up there from their own box, and keep someone up front as a poacher/penalty winner....!!

austria are sh*te but don't be suprised if they can upset somebody. their last game is against germany and if they're already through i'm sure austria will pay the germans enough to let them win. but still it isn't a bad group for austria and 1 upset might even see them through. you can never discount the hosts as sh*te as austria are.

They'll be lucky to get a goal in the whole tournament. Can't see them winning any points, even against Poland...

I reckon even the All Whites will have a chance against Austria.

They'll get a goal. FIFA will make sure that the ref gives them soft penalties and stuff.

Like I said earlier, they'll have to get into the opposition penalty box first...man, I really don't rate Austria, do I?

You never know, they might have something in the pipeline between now and then.

I think the Austrian league used to be stronger than it now is. A bit like the Belgain league. They had some strong sides and a good national team till a few years back.

Maybe they are both going the same way Hungary went after their hey-day in the 1950's.

Portugal will win group A and go on to win the title. And Ronaldo will win golden boot.
The way Portugal played in qualifying, they'll be lucky to get out of the group. They need a decent forward and fast, otherwise it'll be a short tournament for them.

i'm a fan of Portugal but I have to admit that's kinda true. I'm a big fan of Nuno Gomes, but he 's not as good as Pauleta. gomes is the only decent target man we have at the moment. Having said that I really don't think they'll have trouble beating Switzertland and Turkey.

I'm no fan of Portugal, but Nuno Gomes is a brilliant player and I would put him ahead of Pauleta any day. I'm also big fans of Abel Xavier and Jorge Andrade, I know Xavier won't make the squad, but does anybody think Andrade will?

I still can't forget Cristiano Ronaldo crying his little eyes out when Greece beat them for the 2nd time at the last Euro. Sorry, just an indulgent moment for me...!!

You're perfectly entitled to it.

I have to say though, historically I have always liked Portugal, so I hope they are competitive.

Greece to win for sure. Qualified with more points than anyone else, in a difficult group, and our side seems to be peaking at the right time. Yep, go to the TAB and put your bottom dollar on us...!

No reason why Greece can't advance from the group they're in...and in the knock-out stages, anything can happen.

Can't see them going all the way again though.

Poor old Portugal. Pity anyone that writes us off for the Euro boys and girls. We've got as much of a show as anyone. Never underestimate the discipline, teamwork, and compact tightness of the Greek side.

I'll be in Northern Italy during a few of the matches so *may* head up to Zurich/Basel for the France v Italy pool match or if France happen to win the group. Will see how the rest of my timetable checks out.

I'm hoping to be there. Greece play all their pool games in the one town, which helps.

The rain and the usual wholesale changes didn't really help the flow of the game (and probably disadvantaged us more than the Scots) but apparently (based on what my cuz says) we were a bit dodgy on defensive set-pieces, and other than that looked in control for most of the game. The Scots only had two shots on target in the whole game, and their keeper had a pretty good game. I was disappointed that Rakitic didn't play, he was named in the squad but wasn't even on the bench. Not sure if he picked up a late injury, and if he did, I sure hope it's nothing serious.

I wouldnt mind getting to see some more of these pre-tournament friendlies. It would help to check the progress of teams, and get a feel for what they're up to leading into the tournament.

I think Croatias problem against Scotland was that they haven't had a game against a decent team for a long, long time. This often counts against teams come the finals.

How the hell could you possibly get through customs? Let alone afford travel and tickets to Euro 2008.

No wonder Waterside Karori were looking for a new accounts manager this season.

Slightly burned at the Ministry of Sports Investment (TAB) when betting on Portugal against Greece last time.  Have Portugal improved?  Is Christiano Ronaldo still in top gear?
