Nothing at all against England, Man Utd, David Beckham, or their supporters, but I've given up watching TV1 or TV3 news for results or highlights of anything other than an England match. Is it something in the mentality here, that tries to treat football as a sport of about the same size as rugby, with just a handful of nations participating? Why all this 'England/Man Utd/Beckham' stuff only on the news...? Is it a way of denying football's global reach? As someone who is not Anglo-Saxon, I'm so over it. What is wrong with the media here? Why can't they report equally on all games. No wonder so many people thinking England are going to win the World Cup - they think England are the ony team that exists!
Like I say, no offence to England or the English, but I've made my point.

Put that to TVNZ and see what sort of reply you get. Round here you are preaching to the converted.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Presumably they've done their market research, know that the demograhics of NZ is such that there are tons of us English here who are interested in England football news.
Clearly that does not hold up for Man Utd: our Asian & Swedish footy fan cousins may be the target there.
David Beckham: women (and some men), I would guess, are the target audience there.
That covers a lot of bases.

i know thats true, even on here there is a forum dedicated to english football. but i am curious why tv1/tv3 couldn't even mention that there were any othr games and put a list of results in the screen but oh well.
what i am suprised about however is the lack of coverage on the socceroos (actually none). sky won't show any of their games because on a wednesday night at 10pm they would rather show golf highlights and motocross replys. after all most football fans in nz seemed to support the socceroos during the 06 world cup. sky couldn't even show the copa america which i thought some people would care about (so i watched the final on the internet, which wasn't actually that bad was the only time ever time i've watched anything on the internet live without any lagging/interuptions). at least tvnz showed the asian cup, even if it was only on freeview.
