Making a thread for Serie A.

02 Aug 15:34

Napoli sign Polish international striker Arkadiusz Milik in an attempt to replace Gonzalo Higuain who they lost to Juventus.

Milik is signing from Ajax where in his one and only 2015–16 Eredivisie season he scored 21 goals in 31 appearances. Internationally he has scored 11 goals in 31 caps including one goal in Euro 2016.

There's already a Serie A discussion in the General Football Discussion section but I guess this is a more appropriate place for it.

Anyway, as I was saying on the Juventus thread, I've set up a Yellow Fever league on Fantasy Serie A. If you want to play go to https://fantasyseriea.com/

Donnarumma, Milan's 17-year-old starting goalkeeper, saves a penalty in additional time to win Milan the game.

He's impressed me every time I've seen him play.

He's still young and developing. Some times get all in a muddle but he's going to be good for us.

Our Fantasy Serie A league has an interesting mix...

Yeah not sure how many people in it are actually from the forum!! You're off to a roaring start! :-)

Should be retaken, off his line before the ball is kicked :P

Bacca getting 3 and Piguain getting 1 helped!

Shark, baby brain. Forgot to set up my team. Thought Serie A kicked off this weekend for some reason.

In non-fantasy news I'm interested to see how FDB goes as Inter coach

You can still get in. If anything it's an advantage missing the first round as you can see where we all went wrong! :-)

Not looking good for either Milan team. Hopefully Icardi doesn't get sold in the next few days or else we will be royally screwed

Happy for them. Icardi has been incredible for them so far this season. Not sure whether Inter can challenge Juve season-long, but it would be awesome if they could keep it up! Juve should've started Higuain in that game; bad idea not to.

Sassuolo were really good but we needed that win. forza rossoneri!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Some great memories in those videos. I have to say, I am biased - but how could they leave out those three I do not know:

Attention NewZealandPower and anyone else on here with impeccable taste in football clubs... I'm having a crack at setting up a Roma Club Aotearoa. Not sure if there will be enough interest but feel like it's one of those give it a go or wonder 'what if' type things so here goes... It's just a Facebook page at this point but if we can wrangle 20 members it can be officially sanctioned by Roma and we might be able to get together for a big game or two.

All welcome:

Hey mate, my wife told me about this actually.

Thing is, I basically quit FB..I do maintain an account for our work communication page, but I don't use it on a regular basis. Will join now.

Also, until a legal and high quality way to watch Serie A games live comes to NZ, I prefer sticking with avoiding all contact with the outside world during the day and watch full replays of matches in the evening... but man that's a great idea!

Benevento goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli scored an injury-time equaliser against AC Milan to earn his team the first Serie A point in their history.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Absolute stunner as well.  They named a pizza after him in Naples (not far from Benevento).

Feel for "the witches" as they have been ridiculed for their inability to draw a match until now. They're clearly not up to Serie A level, but they're a fully professional outfit and you've got to feel for the players.

Also, there has been talk in Italy of reducing the number of Serie A teams by at least a couple. I support this as it would make the the league more competitive - although the way revenue is divided between club, there's always going to be a huge divide from the top 5-6 and the rest.

Enjoy it while it lasts mate.

Just you wait for the bomb to explode - Spalletti is a good coach but has no people skills, he is a vindictive, narrow minded, micromanaging nit picket and I predict he will become enemy number one soon enough and then it's all going to Shark.

Oh yeah, this is Inter. We'll find a way to fudge it up. As long as the winner isn't Juve again and we make the CL I'll be happy

Yeah a time line - 6 months at the most! I'd actually prefer Inter to win the league ahead of Juve and definitely Napoli, so it's not like I hate them, I just know Spalletti well and I can tell you he's a world champion and creating conflict.

Wow and that was only December...winless in 5 games and just snatching a draw in the 86th yesterday (although they deserved it)...there's more to come my friends! What a shame - a really talented coach who has 0 management and social skills!

Can someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE acknowledge my foresight here?

I can't look smug and superior if no one acknowledges me and if I can't say I told you so, he's a tosser.  Good enough coach (to a degree), but unable to communicate and relate to other human beings (especially top players and media) in a positive way!

Thanks - been waiting a while for this :)

Also, it sounds like Inter are struggling with dept and there's rumor they might not be allowed to compete in Serie A next season.  That's obviously not Spalletti's fault, but their implosion in terms of playing style and results certainly is.
