Morning All,

Its a barmy summers morning here in London, and now that the Euro's is over, and we can look at the way that the International game has changed since lastnight, and Spains great win, and what will the 3 Lions do to get themselves back to the top table of World and European football.

What we saw from the Spainish was a team, that played the modern version of "total football", which was invented by the great Dutch teams of 1974 and 1978. It was a system that allowed every player in the side to "play". There positions were interchangable and fluid, and Spain did this consisitantly through out the champs.

Another thing that in winning Spain have brought to the table was there formation. They played with a 4 - 4 - 1 - 1. Torres lead the line, with Villa playing behind him. It didnt really matter, that he wasnt there for the final, as Cesc played in the same role, and when he was tired, they just changed the player, but kept the system.

Spain, played short passes, and always had atleast 3 options of players who were actively seeking the ball, and passes were crisp and easy.

Ok, the German central defenders were awful, and you could of driven a truck through them at stages of the match. Its always a bit strange when a keeper is a teams best player, and the half bro ther of David Hasslehoff played a real blinder. But in all honesty the Krauts wernt on the same page.

Now, in the papers today over here, Fabio C, is calling for a summit to discuss what we can learn from Spain, and there really is much that we can. We have to ditch the old ways of Sven and his useless puppet McLaren. I never thought that we should abondon the 4-4-2, as I never thought that we had the players to do anything else. But looking at the way the Spainish lined up, with very limited height in there ranks, they played to there many strenghts. Its funny, as we do have players in England who can play this way. Its just weather we will do it or not. Maybe with Fabio in charge we will, and also with all the Spainards now plying there trade in the premier league, surely the way that they play will rub off on the English.

Now, this is not an arsenal comment, but I see in young Theo Walcott alot of similarities between him and David Villa, and instead of lambasting Sven for putting him in the last world cup squad, maybe he was a visonary, but he never knew how to play him.

In summing up, Its wonderful that Spain won, and now I worry more for England, as another top country have come back to the top, and this could put England even further down the pecking order.
Woof Woof

One problem is that Spanish players are light years ahead of the English in terms of technical ability.

Well you got that right at least! Apparently the hottest day we've had for 2 years . . .  Are there a few YF in London right now? I sense a bit of a junket .. .
