I have good reasoning for my choices...

England: Arsenal (saw 'that goal' on the news as a youngster and I was hooked. Love them to bits. Just got a tat of the crest a couple of months back)
Scotland: Celtic (brother supported rangers, so thought I wanted someone who was up there with them so i could rub it in when his team lost)
Spain: Sevilla (only chose them in the last couple of years. Like they football they play - similar to arsenal at times)
Italy: Fiorentina (liked batistuta when i was at school, and that was his team at the time)
Germany: Werder Bremen (winton. Nuff said)
Holland: Ajax (bergkamp. Nuff said)
Belgium: Beveren (arsenal's feeder club)
France: Monaco (wenger used to manage them)

Dundee Football Club.

You many remember this club from such players as: Caniggia, Ravenelli, Novo, Khazanashvilli, Rab Douglas, and Gavin Rae.

Been a Barca fan ever since the 94 Wrodl Cup, I really got into football which around 93-94 when ESPN starting showing the Brazilian Championship, as the games had everything skills, goals, thuggery, and excitement. So I followed Brazil at the 94 WC and idolised Romario and starting supporting Barca as a result. He left not much later but have been a Barca fan through and through ever since.

Dad suuports Crystal Palace so I like to see them do well too, first game football game I can remember watching was the 1990 FA Cup final and subsequent replay. Danny Wallace wasa dirty word in our house after the replay.

whats eurobasket?
Permalink Permalink

It's the European basketball league. It's the basketball equivalent of the European Champions' League. A lot of the top football sides in Europe, eg Panathinaikos, Olympiakos, Real Madrid, Roma, CSKA Moscow, and many others, are in it. Lots of football clubs have a basketball component too.

Greece are the current basketball European champs (as with football) and the mighty Panathinaikos rule the roost in Eurobasket. It's second only to football in Greece, as with much of eastern Europe.

I see you like Christiano Ronaldo Huthy. It's good to see more football, less diving from him this season. I knew it was only a matter of time.

dont bullsh*t me/us mate you were up at 5am watching the game like the rest of CSKA and PAO fans. YOU were the defending champions, but you could not over come GATE 13 in OAKA

YF could learn a thing or 8 million from EUROPEAN BASKETBALL fans, at times they are more intense than football fans

I like that idea Arsenal. We'll make all contributors to this forum topic honorary Greeks.

Can you start by supporting the mighty Panathinaikos Athlitikos Omilis....????

Sorry...but supporting a team because a certain player plays for them...doesn't really make you a supporter, does it?
Otherwise you're not really loyal to the club, are you?
If they player leaves, you start supporting a new club.
That's not what football is about.

if you are from NZ (like me) its not as simple as just picking your local euorpean team and supporting them. i have favourite players (figo, quaresma, messi, kanoute) and i enjoy watching them play, whoever they are playing for. Because a player i enjoy watching is playing then im more likely to support their team.

so being loyal to a club isnt such a huge deal when you have never had anyting to do with them bar watching them on t.v.

Deleted what I wrote before on reflection because nobody likes a smart ass.

Instead I'll replace it with what the thread is meant to be about.

I am only a "fan" of one club, and that club is of course Associazione Sportivo Roma. But there are others I cheer on and have varying levels of interest in.

In Italian Serie B I support Latina because it is a city very close to my father's home town and I have seen them play at their home ground.
In Germany I support Union Berlin because I work for a union and Eisern Union is a club associated with the trade union movement in Germany.
In Spain I support Barcelona because when I was in Rome for the 2009 Champions League final their fans impressed the hell out of me. They were cool and super classy.
In France I support Nice because it is Garibaldi's birthplace.
In Scotland I support Hamilton Academical because I grew up in Hamilton, NZ.

I think that's about it...

Late entering this obviously, but I only really follow the Nix, and only really support the nix.

However these are the teams that I support, mainly because I've seen them live on various trips to Europe.

Hibs

Lokomotive Moscow

Newcastle
