Very good game. Played more like a quarter final than a opening match. Look forward to seeing both teams more

Surprised the Dutch sat deep at 2-1.

Worried about Kubo. He was so talismanic for the first goal. I’ve had my doubts about him because he’s been so hyped for so long, but when he got 3-4 touches, Japan lifted and they equalised.

Didn’t think they could do it again, but this time Ito, Tomiyasu (remember him?) and Kamada provided the spark.

Feel like the Dutch could have put that away, but a good resilient display from us to come back twice and not give up.

I was worried there were no names of quality with Mitoma out, like Hasebe, Honda, Kagawa, Nagatomo (and Sakai, yes) or even some fun players from a decade ago like Inui or Osako.

Was good to see Ito, Kubo, Kamada and Tomiyasu step up.

And will be a chance for young princes to earn their spurs as it were.

Sweden v Tunisia.

Those Mexican waves are getting tiresome.. 🙄
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's living in Agadez, Niger.  Spending more time in town, Agadez, as bad people in the desert are spoiling the good life.
19/4/26.
