Gidday all...

150 days now until the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals tournament kicks off at Soccer City in Jozi with South Africa taking on Mexico...

I run a Sweepstake, just $5 for each entry, on big sporting events.

Like the upcoming World Cup...

And Mike has, kindly, allowed me to spruik the gen for that here.

Every last red dime is returned in prizes and I try to make it an irreverent sort of affair with daily updates abusing anyone who cares to be doing better than me  and highlighting various humorous incidents of the games.

We had 380-odd entries in the Euro 2008 Sweepstake just to give you some idea of scale and what with little ol' Enzed being a starting team that should jump up nicely this time around!...

The 2010 FIFA World Cup draw was only just done and dusted and already the Will you be running a Sweep? e-mails were queuing up in my In Box like a golfing superstars alleged mistresses...

I have already drawn up the Conditions for same and have plagiarised websites left, right and centre to come up with 27 A4 pages of Tournament Preview.

Both are available to anyone wanting to get in early with their studying. With no compunction to actually enter the Sweepstake or anything!

Shoot us an e-mail with World Cup Sweep as the subject line (I am [email protected] with a _ between the biscuit and the nz!) and this super-duper mail sorter thingie here will add you to one of my mailing lists (there's 7 so far!), oh, within 24 hours.

Basically, what you have to do is come up with your pre-tournament guesstimates for about 25 things - the Winner, eg, the number of goals, the number of red cards, who will win each group

You then have to, before each round of games, pick the result of each game eg SAF 2 (a South African win by two clear goals), DRAW (of any description), MEX 1 (any Mexican one-goal win)...

Points (bonus or penalty!) are automatically allocated via spreadsheet that you will become an expert at using in no time at all!

Computer-generated Easypicks are available for any entrant(s) wishing to enter but not wishing to have to do any/part/all of the picking.

Entries may be made individually and/or by groups.

If so desired, pseudonyms may be used.

Prize money will be based on:

First - 40%
Second - 22.5%
Third - 12.5%
Fourth - 10%
Fifth - 7.5%
Sixth - 5%
Best of the Worst - 2.5%

The Best of the Worst will probably, but not necessarily, be the last place-getter. Dont want to encourage any nefarious machinations, do we?

(The organiser promises - would these baby blue eyes lie?  - that no entry of his will win the Best of the Worst prize.)

Look forward to hearing from you.

Just claifying something... if, say, 100 people enter into this, the top six will take home money, and the 'best of the worst' will not actually be the person who got 7th, but rather someone who was way down the list somewhere?

Yep, timmy, the idea behind the 2.5% 'Best Of The Worst' prize is to give something, albeit not very much!, for the stragglers to play for once it becomes obvious they ain't gonna win any of the other 97.5% of the dosh.

That was a suggestion made quite a few Sweeps ago - and I've been running them since the 1994 FIFA World Cup...

Looks kosher to me Smith, no ticket-clipping apparent.

On a different subject, have you had an update from Banners in SA?

Negative to both...

As, or so I thought, was quite clear from my original post...
