just saw this ridiculous screen shot of Pro evo 2010, after Torres was announced on the cover (with Messi). They are gonna change the gameplay from 2009, I have played PES/WE/ISS since it was ISS Pro 98 and automatic one-two, and thought PES2009 was a bit of a let down. This picture makes me want to replace my PS2.

I want to return to 3 Master League divisions and adding features there as the last few PES games have been let downs, seabass seems to be adding more licenses year by year. The first game I have not got in this series is PES 2009 and my first games was the original PES, in saying that I did not buy FIFA either.

Show difference between the graphics in 2009 and 2010, hopefully this doesn't mean the gameplay is forgotten about. But the lighting is ridiculous.

Looking at details on the pes fan site the bulk of the effort has been put into returning the game to its simulation roots which is great to hear!!

I really hope PES can return to the glory days of the earlier versions, it hurt me to switch to FIFA last year even though it was a superb game. Will be a tough choice who to go with this season.

I watched some of the promo clips for the game and I love the tactical side of things. I haven't played the last couple of FIFA's but PES 5 > FIFA 07. I used to play FIFA 07 a lot, but got bored - stuck with the same formations and lack of realism. After playing PES for a while and getting used to the slight changes in control (pass as a tackle is great, mistiming a tackle will only result in a pass not a huge hoof up the field) I really started to the love the game. Setting up your team how you want to play, the runs they make, the defensive setup, AI player movement, in-game refs and the passing are so superior to FIFA 07 it is crazy. Only thing I find a little annoying is that PES 5 doesnt have the same amount of flair as FIFA 07.

Really hope that PES 2010 lifts the bar again.

have played ps3 demos of both pes2010 and fifa10 and i have got to say, they have both improved dramatically.

I'll still go with FIFA, it offers much more longevity imo but PES2010 is a great game if the demo is anything to go by.

I have a super computer and am sick of FIFA shafting me again and again - my question however (that I can't seem to find an answer to) is whether the English lower leagues are in the game.  I can suck it up and do without them but it will suck not being able to at least be a faux version of Forest...

I don't think that Forest will be there.

That is the only problem with the PES series is the lack of licences. IMO the PES series generally has better gameplay than FIFA, but not the licences.

Yeah I figured as much.  Do I put up with another crappy port of Fifa or go for gameplay and drop all my favourite teams to play PES...

On the PC you could possibly find some fan sites with teams to add to the game.

PES preview from The Guardian:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2009/oct/11/games5

Maybe it was the continued innovation of the online play, particularly the 10vs10, or the vastly improved feel of the action. Or perhaps it was the dubious pleasure in playing as Southampton - but FIFA 10 has certainly seduced me recently. And as a total package FIFA 10 is hard to beat. But after a weekend playing PES 2010 it has quickly became obvious that on the pitch ultimately where it matters most, of course PES simply plays the more satisfying and entertaining game of football.

See if that quoted paragraph applied to the PC version of Fifa 10 rather than just the consoles I wouldn't be in this situation... dunno, I'll leave it a while.

I got a camera on the old xbox lately so I was trying to make player faces.
Worst point of playing games on the xbox is not being able to import jpegs, so you have to use the cam (think youtube clips where the person has recorded something off tv by just videotaping the screen...)
The colours end up terrible (far too much red in the camera) -its weird, because the camera is actually WORSE when taking photos for the game than it is in normal use.

I'll upload some pics if I manage - for now, Ifill is carving up D2 (deliberately made the players about the same level as Ryan Nelsen and the lesser parts of the Aussie national team...)

Oh and weighing in on PES vs. FIFA this time around:
Graphics: Fairly similar
Team tactics: PES
Player movement: FIFA
Offline modes: PES
Online modes: FIFA
That's all that can really be said about it. I wish there was an uber-game combining both.
