UAE keeper was decent.

Yes, unusual to see a keeper from that part of the world plucking crosses out of the air under pressure like that.

Looking forward to seeing more of Abdulrahman through this comp. Absolute quality.

Abdulrahman has so much class. The Arab Pirlo.

Fell in love with him when he played at the Olympics a few years ago. He's possibly the best passer of the ball in world football.

Think that accolade falls to Xavi pal.

Three for me, and two for them.

He is at least in the conversation. There are some great bits of footage of him passing the ball nearly the entire length of the field and dropping it right in the path of his target, with adequate backspin to keep the bounce right down. You get the feeling he could drop it on a dime while blindfolded.

On another note. This game is quite open, it's a pity the balls into the box are so poor.

Now that's more like the middle east type of keeping we've come to know and love. Iran miss the tap in.

Personal motto: never trust a keeper wearing trackpants. Shouldn't make a difference but somehow it does.

Worth sitting up for that goal. Commentators were talking about a possible Oz v Iran match. Would love to see that.

I'll always remember that game for the way the crowd turned on the Socceroos and gave them hell. An ugly sight.

Aussie to go 2-0 up. No idea what would happen beyond that...

For such a big bloke that Iranian keeper spends an awful lot of time rolling around crying in simulated pain.

Was a bit of that, but I think these teams where also a lot stronger on the ball than many others we've seen apart from Aussie

Sorry if this has been asked before, but why do the TAB odds at the top of the page not use North Korea's flag? Is it a protest against a backwards oppressive regime, and if so, how about Saudia Arabia's?

Looking at flags... Jordan and Palestine must have taken note of the only difference between NZ and Australia with their choices of flags!

Tweeted Patrick about it and apparently it is because TAB don't use their official name (Korea DPR), so the code doesn't recongnise it.

It was one of the most painful sport-related sights for me.

The last half hour of that game were pure pain if you were an Oz supporter.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

For those interested in why people want an Australia v Iran game:

After watching some of this I went and eatch the highlights of our game against Bahrain. It brought back a flood of memories. Going orgasmic when we scored and when Pasty saved the weak pen. Probably Leo's  best game of football ever. His crossing that night was almost perfect.

Watching a guy jump down onto the field beside us and he broke his ankle. Whilst on the ground, 5 fun police all dived on him despite his ankle pointing in the wrong direction. Then someone in the crowd threw him a full beer can, which he tried to drink. there were guys dressed up like that sheep that's  the mascot later this year. Umbrella man over in the zone area, exchanging his yellow flag for a black and white checkered one.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

A nerd writes: Palestine's flag is the "Arab Revolt" flag from WW1 which was flown against the Ottoman Empire. All the other countries changed theirs, but kept more or less kept the same colours.
