A few stats from the opening round of matches

2 - The amount of goals scored from outside the box, both the result of keeper errors. Blunder.

4 - The number of headed goals at the tournament so far. Target.

- The number of teams to score two or more goals in a match. Open.

5 - Only 5 games have resulted in both teams scoring. 4 of which were 1-1 draws. Even.

5 - The number of red cards dished out in the opening round of matches. Dismissed.

9 - The amount of scoreless first halves we have witnessed so far. Cagey.

12.7 - The average number of shots for each goal scored at the World Cup so far. Wayward.

48 - The years between Chile's last World Cup victory and their 1-0 win over Honduras. Lengthy.

- The number of minutes Switzerland have gone without conceding a goal at the World Cup finals. Solid.

Well, second round already has some new stats. You can add 1 more to goals outside the box, and Forlan the first player to score two goals in a game this WC.

The first round in this World Cup has also produced the lowest number of goals since the tournament was expanded to 32 teams in 1998.

Sorry! I meant a team has lost the game, but scored a goal. I'll blame sleep deprivation!

Latest equalising goal since Shaun Bartlett equalised for South Africa against Saudi Arabia in 1998 to make it 2-2.
