Well the AFCON has started again this year, held in Morocco.  They had the opening game this morning vs Comoros and won 2-0.  They had about 80% possession but Comoros frustrated them for a long time.  The Comoros goalkeeper made plenty of great saves, including a penalty save, before Brahim Diaz scored in the 55th minute.  Then sub Ayoub El-Kaabi came on and scored a wonder overhead kick to really get the celebrations started.  If you can, check online for that goal because it was an absolute cracker.

Senegal beat hosts Morocco 1-0 in the final.

Both teams will be at the World Cup.

Senegal of course beat England 3-1 last year in the UK.

Really does make Senegal's WC pool of them, France and Norway the "Pool of Death". Bolivia, Suriname, Iraq to be the 4th team.

Sorry, I didn't really follow through much with the AFCON (on here)...but there were a lot of good games (I watched through BEIN sports app) and the final was crazy....to have a team walk off, the crowd spilling onto the wider pitch and some questionable late calls, and a Panenka penalty miss, then a thunderous winning goal....AFCON does have its moments!

It's pathetic from Senegal though, isn't it.

Both calls were contentious at best. Crying about corruption and walking off in a huff is nonsense.

Three for me, and two for them.

Mind you I also see bollocks like this and think I'm glad Morocco lost.

Three for me, and two for them.

Senegal should be stripped of the title. You can't have teams leaving because of referee decisions... especially in finals.

Was it genuine or gameship?!

Crazy scenes. I know there is a real split in CAF between the North Africa Arab nations (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt) and the sub Saharan ones.
The Arab countries having a reputation for diving and cheating in general.

That might have fueled Senegal's' belief the game was fixed. Though all the match officials (incl VAR) seem to have been from Sub Saharan Africa.
