Algeria/Egypt - HOLD YOUR HATS!!!
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

One of the fiercest rivalries in world sport is going to be decided by a one-off knockout blow and worried authorities hope that is only a sporting metaphor. Egypt versus Algeria games have provoked riots, diplomatic incidents and many injuries over the years. Now, thanks to an improbable series of events, the two North African nations will on Wednesday face each other on neutral territory, Sudan, with the winner going to the World Cup.

YIKES!!

I fancy Algerie!!

First time they've qualified since 1986 in Mexico.

Egypt continue their piss poor record of qualifying for World Cups.

Damn, wanted to see Egypt in the world cup.  They played very well in the confederations cup and were very hard done by against Brazil (just my opinion - I know it's been debated in the past and I can't be bothered with that now).

Any well known Algerian players in the EPL or la Liga?  Probably quite a few in Ligue 1 I'd suspect.

Info on the Algerian national team, including the current squad. A few guys playing in the Premiership, at lower clubs like Pompey and Hull.

The Egyptian government has recalled its ambassador to Algeria following complaints about violence towards football fans, reports say.

The move comes hours after Algeria's ambassador in Cairo was summoned to the Egyptian foreign ministry.

hopefully they'll do a fiji style diplomatic spat - rather than a full-on football war - was it Honduras and someone in the 70's that used a match as an 'excuse' to start a war
