What's Utting said?
Was in an article last year commenting on Hudson (unhappy), has he said something since?
"I like to see people who stand up and call a spade a spade and saying what he honestly thinks rather than someone hiding behind either a pay package or a New Zealand soccer tracksuit," Utting said. He says the sense of entitlement among up and coming Kiwi players is endemic among the whole generation, not only in football - sentiments echoed by former All Whites defender Sam Malcolmson.
However, Utting believes the players' biggest problem is the quality of coaching they receive from a young age and that's where he wants NZF focus their efforts. "The coaches in New Zealand are not coached. They think they know what they're doing but they don't have a clue. "Don't get me wrong, they've got wonderful intentions with the kids. But the harsh reality is that it's not as good as the coaching you'd get in other places in the world. So we've got to coach the coaches first and the players will naturally progress.
"The Wynton Rufers, Ryan Nelsen and Winston Reids are the people that will come through because they push themselves but they all had decent coaches along the way."
