Piney said something along the lines that he never gets access either, they seem to intentionally choose non footballing people.

Unless the strategy is to get people who don't give a toss about football to go "oh, yeh right" and then go straight back to not giving a toss about football. Much like the interview was interrupted by a provincial rugby game.
People like Piney and Gourdie who have fought for coverage where there's been fudge all, and given us fantastic work above and beyond are the ones who will convince people to be new fans. Or provide interesting ways to package info like the AWs power rankings. I'm fairly much a fan after listening to Piney's commentary for the first season.
Unless the strategy is simply damage limitation above all else.
