I just had a morning tea chat with Durante's wife. I asked how Dura feels about Hudson as a coach and the team as a whole.
Apparently before every AWs selection, Hudson flies to Wellington to talk to each of the lads individually about why they have/haven't been selected for the squad and their future with the team.
She also said that Hudson has apologised to the team for the culture he fostered when he first started in the job, ignoring senior players and only picking kids and he recognised the impact that it had on the culture of the team and the performances and has tried since tried to change methods and make amends.
Apparently Durante rates him very highly as a tactical coach and thinks he knows the game well, but his man management is a little lacking at time, which falls in line with stuff we already knew.
Was a very enlightening chat and made me hopeful for Hudson's tenure going forward. Its obviously a fairly one sided point of view about the situation but always good to hear some chat from inside the camp.
