Based on our last 4 games, both Fiji matches and the Mexico and USA game, I'm fairly happy.

We dominated Fiji and competed with Mexico and the States - if we keep up this standard we will be credible at the Confeds.

New Caledonia was after the US tour - and was a big step backwards in terms of football.

Yeah but the main man Reid didn't play New Caledonia nor Fiji. His availability (and Wood's) is absolutely critical to any chance of AWs pulling off some upsets later this year. Not only Reid's skill, but experience and presence/mana call it like you will. I'm sure that a huge amount of the team improvement visible in those two North American (yeah sure against far from full strength Mexico/USA sides), was just due to having him in the side for the first time in ages - with the leadership/confidence plus very high standards that a top EPL player demands of his team mates.

Sure 90% of AWs players are pro footballers, unlike the Island guys - but strutting your stuff in USA Div 2 (USL), German 4th Div, French 4th Div, or the A League doesn't make you a world beater.  Without Reid and to a lesser degree Wood (heaven forbid if ever without both of them on the field) the AWs will honestly be a pretty sharke international team.  With both of them in starting XI, there is some cause for hope.
