Joe McGrath was a charlatan who blagged his way into the job without the requisite credentials. A lot of the fault there was Soccer New Zealand's (as they were called at the time) for not checking more into his background and believing what he told them. Hudson however has the credentials (on paper) and more experience as a Head Coach due to his Bahrain stint.
But....
The biggest problem with Hudson is that it has been clear from the word go that this job is just a stepping stone in his mind and he will say and do whatever it takes to make his CV look better. He continually points to his supposedly improved squad and to things like the Oceania Nations win as if these are evidence of the AWs progress. A lot of people know otherwise.
Aside from this my biggest concern is his inability to see what it actually is that makes a player one who is ready for international football. His picking of Prelevic and Dyer in particular, and his overlooking of Boyd and Gleeson shows nothing but mind-bogglingly bad football judgement.
