Not supporting these fellas.
But interested in how they will go with structuring their attack. Players such as Tevez, Messi, Aguero and Higuain. Thoughts from anyone a little more knowledgable ?
A pretty tough group from them, although they should qualify, Nigeria are probably their biggest threat.

growing up supporting england i always hated them, but liked crespo very much when he was at chelsea.
that 6-0 thumping of serbia i think was a footballing masterclass
i cant stand maradona though so want him to fail
think they will do ok though, could be very leathal on attack but may get found out a bit in defence

Maradona's in charge.
Translation: who the f**k knows what they'll do. He certainly doesn't.

I love Maradona. Suitably mad. The World Cup honestly would not have been the same without these guys. Imagine Diego if they won it... It'd be hilarious.

Actually it would be hilarious if they won it. I almost hope they do, just so I can see Diego's press conference afterwards. So many lols.

Exactly. "Sucking it" would be the tamest point, I should imagine...

I thought they were the best team last World Cup. They seem to have really slid since then.

I cannot wait to see EL DIEGO back on the World's biggest stage.

I was thinking of this linup (midfield and attack)
Aguero Higuain
Tevez Messi
Mascherano Cambiasso
I don't know much about their defense and keepers so I wouldn't know who to choose

Hmmm... Maybe. But everyone in Argentina loves Tevez- and none of them are very tall at all!

He'll win the f**king thing on his own

I'm an Argentina supporter (thanks to my husband!) I only hope all the talent they have will actually be able to work together as a team... The qualifying wasn't exactly inspiring :P

absolutely despise them:brilliant footballers, but capable of some extremely dodgy "gamesmanship".They've a talented squad to be fair, but I want them on the first flight home.

1966 too
Yeah, the first time someone who introduced the Rugby tackle at the FIFA Football World Cup was the Argentina's captain against one of England players. LOL It was hard not to give a red card to that.
Is there going to be another classic Argentina - England this World Cup? I think it is possible at either at the quarter finals or semi finals stage. I'll have to check it out.

Where do you start?1966 shenanigans,1986 obviously,Simeone in 1998,and their general behaviour in "friendlies" over the years...I would go as far to say that they're now our no.1 rivals, eclipsing the jocks(historical, but it's fading due to the lack of games)and arguably the jerries.
Fair dues though:they do produce brilliant players and I'm not so blinkered as to deny their quality;it's just their demeanour on the pitch I can't stand.
Favourite moment in 2002 WC:Batistuta's bottom lip quivering uncontrollably and then the tears after they'd been eliminated by the lovely Swedes...priceless!

Diego Maradona runs over cameraman at World Cup squad announcement

The Argentina coach Diego Maradona insulted an injured cameraman after accidentally running over his leg ahead of announcement of the albiceleste World Cup squad.
Driving to yesterday's news conference in Buenos Aires, the 1986 World Cup winner was surrounded by journalists. One was hit and he fell to the ground.
According to a witness, Maradona's car rolled over the lower part of the cameraman's leg. "What an schmuck! you are," Maradona shouted from the car. "How can you put your leg there where it can get run over, man?" Paramedics attended to the cameraman, who was taken away for further treatment.
The 49-year-old coach then delivered the names of the 23-man squad for the World Cup to the media. Maradona's World Cup preparation was disrupted in March when he needed minor facial surgery after being bitten by his dog.

Love this story
:
Rumour has it that Ariel Garce was called up for the World Cup because coach Diego Maradona had a dream that Argentina won the tournament, and Garce was the only player he could remember. Maradona witlessly picks Garce ahead of the legendary Javier Zanetti.

heh 1 big shiny LOL.
loved Diego as a player, not convinced about his abilities as a coach. Although players seem to back him up, he gets on with Messi very well, and it might be the key for Argentina to perform very good in South Africa.

i wonder if the attacking formation used against Korea Republic will work against stronger teams. Just seems too attacking, with Mascherano the only defensive midfielder.
Higuain
Di Maria Messi Tevez Rodriguez
Mascherano
But they've look like one of the best teams in the comp.

Fantastic display of football against Korea.
If they top their group and Germany does the same for theirs, there is a nice prospect of a great quarter-final clash between the Euro Germans and the New World Germans.
