4-1. Hig hat trick. Sublime. Utterly sublime.

Three for me, and two for them.

This has happened to me before, I called Nathan Mauger absolute dross and he scored a hattrick of tries for the Crusaders or Canterbury

They concede four, but the display couldn't be more different to how Aus did.  Argentina superb, much like the Serbia and Monenegro match at the same stage 4 years ago.

Full time 4-1. The World Cup's getting good folks. That was a masterclass, with the exception of the soft goal they gifted Korea, it was pretty much a perfect performance.

Argentina and Germany looking very ominous so far.

What's with everyone gifting Korea goals?  First Greece, now Argentina. Hope the Nigerians buck the trend and send them home.

Messi and Tevez brilliant. Hope Nigeria can get past Greece, and set up a winner (or draw) takes all clash next week.

They certainly seem to run with the ball faster and harder than the Spanish team on the attack. Messi is an amazing player, works well with the team and brings the best out of his mates.

Korea worked hard and had a few cracks at goal but they can't defensively slow the ball movement in the Argies attack, the ball just keep moving and moving between their Argie players almost at will.

The styles between the top teams are so awesome to watch. Argentina has great off the ball movement from the ball carrier, Germany with their superior positioning of players around the whole pitch, Spanish team having close ball control possession. Simply wonderful to watch such tidy style of the game. Football heaven.

OK - so just in case you really do have the power - here is your theme for the weekend - Fallon - absolute dross, Smeltz - no idea, Killen - don't give up your day job, Wood - should be platying netball, Reid - flash in the pan, Brown, Elliot etc etc - you get the picture...Gordinho2010-06-18 08:20:24

Was anyone else as pissed off as me at the commentator for repeatedly saying that the Argies have never failed to progress from the group stages? I mean, aren't you supposed to do some research before the games? Even more frustratingly, he didn't need any research to know that statement was simply not true - all he had to do is remember the World Cup from 8 years ago, when Argentina were in the group with England, and, imagine that, failed to progress from the group stage! And he kept droning on about for the whole game. Muppet.

And what's with refereeing in the last few days? Two more offside goals today (one in this game).

And Webb didn't give a penalty in the Spain-Switzerland game (in his defence M'lud it wasn't ManU playing).

Yeah, Webb was poor too - hate refs who apply one standard for a foul in midfield, and another in the penalty box.

In that case I retract it completely.

impressed by the ability of almost everyone in the Arg team to use two quick touches to open up the angles for distribution before releasing the ball

interesting to that they seem to play without a lot of width - eg Messi's great ball to the left hand edge of the penalty area for the first time cross for the third (i think) goal

they really do look good, i wonder if maradona will confound all the critics (me included)

I just have a feeling it's all about Argentina's players and form they are in, Maradona doesn't have much to do with it. It all goes their way so far, wonder what happens if Argentina gets in trouble, would Maradona have any idea and influence to change the outcome of the game? Probably need to wait for later stages of the tournament, when they clash with better teams.

Kun! Brilliant performance from the Argies. I love Maradona, Messi is brilliant. Higuain is a Madridista twat, but was in the right place at the right time to finish off the brilliance of Messi and co. Three times. Hope they can keep playing like that.

No fan of the Argies but they have played the nicest footy of the tournament and look like the form team (touch wood ooh err).

Quite possible if England sneak into 2nd in their group they could meet Argentina in the quarter-final (may be a German obstacle, or not depending on how they go in their group).

That would be nice!
