Germany will scrape this I reckon, will be a classic no doubt.

Come on Germany.  I love this German squad.  Their passing is simply superb and the thought that many of them have over a decade of international football in them is awesome.

Btw, when is the yellow card slate wiped clean?  As Lahm, Arne Friedrich, Schweinsteiger, Khedira, Muller, Ozil and striker Cacau are all just one yellow card away from suspension.  It used to be wiped after group stage but then I heard quarter final so why is it still applicable?  Or is it after quarter final so if none of these players get a booking then for the semi it'll be wiped?

Wiped after the Quarter Finals so no one rules themselves out of a potential Final by getting needlessly booked in the Semi.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah, i think FIFA decided to introduce it after incidents like Gazza in 1990 and Ballack in 2002. Can't remember if anyone missed out in 2006. Anyway i think it's a good rule.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah but 5 games to accumulate 2 yellow cards is a LONG time imo. In certain positions if you havent accumulated 2 yellows in 5 games you probably arent challenging enough...

re the yellows - yep it still isn't quite right, holland had all but 2 of their starting 11 on a yellow

cleverly, only 1 seems to have got his second (the right back iirc)

i think argentina will do it

like Holland v brazil - this is also worthy of a final match-up

I hope the Argies have taken note of Brazil's disaster and don't go to pieces if things aren't going according to plan. I'd prefer them to win but I feel Germany will be too strong.

i reckon if germany do end up winning it will be for that very reason - i.e. they will have had more self-control

cliched/stereotypical perhaps even 'racist' but quite probably accurate

I lumped the entire contents of my betting account on Uruagay winning in normal time last night (having won some cash with Schnieder scoring and more than 55 booking points in the early game) so I need to top up again.

When this happens, I am all over both teams to score and there being more than 55 booking points again (10 points per yellow card, 25 points per sending off).  Both teams have great attacks and it will be a niggly game.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

1-0 to the Nazis after 3 mins. It's a case of who do I hate least. I'm thinking the Nazis 3-1.

Its no longer a problem.

Wow.. Can't believe that just happened. I wanted this to go into extra time. guess I will be fooled again.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Still a long way to go yet. Cracking start to the match though.

Hell yeah. Am hoping for at least a decent contest, not just for Germany to run rampant again.

Starting to even out a bit now.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

So 1-0 at half time. Really enjoyable half, very absorbing. Argentina have been good in patches but far too inconsistent going forward. Germany look to be the better team by a fair way in the first 45.

Three for me, and two for them.

with Messi on the field, there is always the chance for some magic from him, so I hope Germany doesnt sit back and try and defend the lead.

Germany will sit back, but burst out quick on the counter. That's how they've played

Gerries love their counter act.

2-0 Klose. All too easy for Germany. Will take a miracle to get this back for Argentina.

Three for me, and two for them.

slight hint of offside for his goal I think, but germans have been good value for the win today

3-0. Argentina have fallen apart.
