Asia Group - World Cup Draw - Kind to Australia?
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

In addition to China, the Australians will face Asian Nations Cup winners Iraq and Asian Games winners Qatar. Top-2 in each group will qualify for the final round (10 teams fighting for 4 automatic and 1 play-off place). Group 5 also looks quite even but nothing like the Group 1 nightmare. South v North should be fun. Group 1 Australia China PR Iraq Qatar Group 2 Japan Bahrain Oman Thailand Group 3 South Korea North Korea Jordan Turkmenistan Group 4 Saudi Arabia Uzbekistan Lebanon Singapore Group 5 Iran Kuwait United Arab Emirates Syria Match days are: 6 February 2008 26 March 2008 20 August 2008 11 October 2008 15 October 2008 19 November 2008

Saudi and the Uzebeks look like certainties. Are these match days FIFA windows? Will the a league be given a week off when these matches are played?

There will be a week off for the February game (i.e. playoffs delayed by a week), but not sure about October/November. I read an article earlier today (can't find the link now) which suggested that the first two dates aren't in the FIFA window, but I find that difficult to believe given that it's World Cup qualifying.

By the way, Iran and Japan will breeze through their groups.el grapadura2007-11-26 18:12:50

Nah Aussie will make it through that Iraq aren't all that good pretty much play on confidence and spirit alone doubt they will get much of a result down under, and China are pretty piss poor can't see them worrying Oz too much either.

Might get a little more difficult after that though.

Three for me, and two for them.

4 out of 6 games are not on FIFA dates, which means it will be played by an A-League team. I really do have a bad feeling about it
