Yeah Vicelich didn't offer much at all going foward, with Bertos double marked and Elliott being repeatedly cut down on the ball our momentum going forward was somewhat lacking.  Still, great creativity in sending Reid forward like that at the death, boy did it pay off.

I love turning up at school and kids are wearing All Whites shirts over their school tops. And scarves and all. It's great. I love this. Everyone is talking about football!
Plenty of evidence of this in Christchurch too:
e.g. My day after the game:
1. NZ team heroics main topic of discussion of Asian students at language school (putting Korean team heroics on backburner for the time being!)
2. Korean 11 year-old I tutor after school, never previously interested in football, tells me excitedly he had convinced his mum to let him stay up and watch the whole game. Now he's plotting ways to see NZ's next game at 2am next Monday...
3. Dropping in to pick up a DVD at "Alice in Videoland" (NZ's best DVD hire store stacked with classic, cult and foreign films, in the central city) which is quite an "artsy" sort of place, the guy behind the counter who only two weeks ago told me emphatically that he never watches sport and has no interest in it, revealed he'd stayed up and watched the match and actually enjoyed it. Now he can name several players and knows what a vuvuzela is...
4.Walking along street in neighbourhood on way to house-warming party, turn corner to find two dogs pushing football around with noses and scrapping for possession. Comment to their owner who is watching, "Football's really taking off in this country, isn't it? - even the dogs are playing!"

Just watching soccernet presspass, wer're getting lots of positive coverage!

Tommy Smyth even suggested we were robbed and deserved to win. good for us
Yeah, he's saying that now- the previous evening he said we didn't have a show against Slovakia and gave us a 25% chance of a draw. Likewise his fellow panelist Steve Nicol (ex-Liverrpool great) said he didn't like our chances.
Hope they have plenty of humble pie in their fridge!

Proudest moment of my life. That is all. I was in tears, just wandering through the streets of West Auckland, chanting at the top of my voice.

Could anyone work out or know what was on the AW's shirts just under the fern. Obviously details of the match but I was thinking of getting it reproduced on my shirt.

The 3rd line looked like it said Rustenberg South Africa but I couldn't see what the rest said.

In case anyone else has already watched the game three times having downloaded/mysky'd it, then you might enjoy this:

Alternate commentary by Chris Moyles (famous UK radio show host) and co.

You'll need to spend a few minutes to get it sync up with your video (and mute your own video ofc) but well worth it - some fantastic moments in it.

Sorry I am a bit late with this, but someone mentioned Gary Lineker's reaction straight afterwards on the BBC, it was something like this...

P.S. I have the BBC's coverage of the entire match saved if anyone wants it next time I am in Wellington.

I've got the bbc version on iplayer, but can only watch it for the next 7 days.

got to love the match analysis of the 82 game against scotland where they take the p*ss out of Hansen.  Also love (kind of) the way they pretty much write us off before the game and then praise us at half time (haven't re-watched second half yet).

don't know if this has been on other channels and anyone saw it - but they interviewed loads of players about pre-match rituals - boyens doesn't shave, but i liked the slovakian player,  "i take off my wedding ring and hide it in a, shall we say, private place" - i mean, i take off my wedding ring when i play sport too, but i don't feel the need to put it in a "private place".

The file size is 502MB.  I've never uploaded video before, can you suggest the best method, unless as someone said it is already uploaded somewhere.

And to the person who can access it on iPlayer (presume you are in the UK), install this - http://po-ru.com/projects/iplayer-downloader/#windowsgui

have been loving the replays-
I think i was too tired/nervous to fully appreciate them as games when i saw them live-In hindsight you could see how smart they played against Italy and Slovakia (Didn't see the thrid game) esp. in the Slovakia game there were moments of real skill and movement. & loved seeing the Italian Fan's reactions again; the realisation that they have been matched by a much lower ranked team.
