Right, so I've just got back from SA to find a stack of DVD in my flat of all of the group games.  Thanks Dad. Obviously I tried to catch as many as I could while over there, but could people suggest which games I should watch first (excluding the NZ games and Aussies getting pumped by ze Germans).

Japan v Denmark was good.Italy getting done by Slovakia. All the knock out games so far except this mornings bore fest and Holland Slovakia was so so.

Also watching the USA was good. No play acting. An honest team. Good game v Slovenia.
Was going to add don't bother with Brazil v Portugal.
Plenty of time to check out the talent in that game?
Is that a picture of Marek Hamsik feeding a giraffe in the yellow fever picsaweb album?

Saw it first hand.  Good bobsleds and even greater women.

Top 5 games for me so far: (ex. NZ games)

Italy v Slovakia
Nigeria v Korea Republic
South Africa v Mexico
Slovenia v USA
Germany v England

Hasn't been a true classic yet. Hopefully the Quarters and Semis will provide one or two.

Three for me, and two for them.

I enjoyed Denmark vs Cameroon, not sure why, and have loved watching the Ghanaians celebrate, their game against USA would be the pick of that bunch.

Neither of those have much on Buffy's selection.

This.

Spain vs Portugal  Just the relief at the final whistle- almost on par with NZ vs Italy!

Really enjoyed the Spain v Chile game. Chile were 2-0 down, a man sent off and facing disaster but kept attacking and got a vital goal. Just lost its way in the last 15 minutes unfortunately.

Also liked the intensity of the USA v Ghana game. Not a classic but tons of passion.

The USA have been very good to watch I thought.  If you want to see a lot of goals then North Korea vs Portugal is the way to go.  Australia vs Serbia, from the 30 minutes I caught of it, was also a good one.

The Portugal/N Korea game just pissed me off. I was hoping Ivory Coast would snare 2nd spot, and so they probably would've if the Koreans hadn't fallen apart so embarrassingly. Against any serious opposition Portugal showed little quality. They should've been on their way home after the first round and we would then have had the mouth watering prospect of Spain v Ivory Coast.

Still, I guess the history of the WC is littered with 'if-onlys'.

This - the gypos benefited from the structure of the group draw (playing Brazil last when they had no imperative to win) and from spanking the hapless North Korean in the second half when the latter lost their shape and organisation.

But then again, CIV were in a position to beat Portugal in the first game but ultimately settled for the draw, and that came to bite them on the arse.
