In a similar vein to the re-naming of exisiting stadia (e.g. St Jame's Park) as compared with building new stadia (The Emirates Library).

We've changed our strip, Hull City recently changed too - last season I think (although not the basic colours - rather the design).

Spurs went through a few changes early on as did Newcastle . 

 

Sad but probably the way of the world these days where cash is king.
